in reply to: Let's build a selfbow #13970
Singingbowyer,
If can be a little nosey, where was that picture of all the bows taken at? It looks like Twin Oaks in Clarksville Tn. I was just wondering. Thanksin reply to: Bow Tuning #13965Duncan…What spine did you go with??? I ordered a test kit from 3 Rivers and the 60-65 with a 145 grain head shot the best. But both the 50-55 and the 55-60 shot pretty good as well. Just curious what you went with
in reply to: Ghilli suit #13962I made one several years ago. I took a set my camo hunting clothes. I cut little slits in the shirt and pants and cut burlap in to 2 inch strips about a foot to 2 feet long and just run them in the slits and tied them in. It looked great and worked pretty good. BUT….one tip….Do not put it in the washing machine. hahahahahaha wow what a mess…I got my hunting clothes out and then got the handfulls and handfulls of burlap out. Yeah I should have used a little common sence but oh well live and learn. Its pretty funny now and it was then too
in reply to: Tred Barta Arrows #63658Thanks for the update. I was wondering if he was still in the wheelchair or if he was making progress to get up out of it. I hope he gets out of the chair.
in reply to: longbow press? #62663Where can I get one of the Binghams video your talking about
in reply to: stupin with woodies #55885Ha I’m glad to see that I’m not the only one that launches an arrow one last time. There is a bluff that overlooks a huge valley behind the house that I have shot mine off of. You can watch them fly for a really long ways.
David-thanks for the idea about the alluminum sleeve. I was thinking about drilling the end out so it will hold a HP insert from some Easton ST Epics and then use a carbon collar but figured it wouldn’t do much good. Would black electrical tape wrapped up 3 inches or so do the same thing? That stuff gets pretty solid when wrapped tightly three of four times.
in reply to: 3 Rivers Archery #52519I don’t even know where the shop is. Where is it at?
in reply to: help new bowyer #51446but I would suggest that you get one of the DVD’s from bingham if you are planning to build a laminated wood bow! Tons of info
Chris, I’m wanting to build a laminated wood bow too. Where would I find one of the bingham dvds
in reply to: Some Assembly Required #49143How think do you normally cut your lams to? Or does it just vary. Never made one before but I am really wanting to. I was just curious thanks
in reply to: Custom Fur Silencers #42146Yeah I’m right there with you. If its raining hard enough for me to be worried about silencers getting wet, I’ll be worrying about it from the couch. haha.. I’m more worried about my arrow feathers getting wet then my silencers anyway
in reply to: Fixing my bow grip #42139Thats brave Carl. I think I’m too big of a chicken. haha. I’m glad yours worked out though. I’m still debating it. I may say screew it and just go for it. I’d hate to mess it up and be out the money I have in it though
in reply to: Custom Fur Silencers #41130Have any of you tried to give a husky a bath? Its like trying to wash a 60 pound duck. hahaha. But really they shed water off pretty easy actually. I don’t know what the differance is between them and other dogs but I can pour a bucket of water on him and it just beads off. I have to grab him and lay him down in the water and let him soak for a little bit to get him wet. Its pretty impressive actually. I’ve also got a set of muskox on my string to and they get wet before my dogs hairs but normally I just flip the string a little to throw it off
in reply to: Custom Fur Silencers #39863I like them. I try to make as much of my own stuff as I can. I have a Siberian Husky named Cody (where my user name comes from)and in the spring he blows his hair out in just massive balls. I wrestled him down one night and brushed a grocery bag full of hair and twisted in my hands to make strands of yarn and ran several pieces through my string and cut the ends and started shooting. Ha after several face fulls of hair they finally settled in. They are short but really thick and do a great job. Yeah people laugh and make fun when I tell them they are hair from my dog but oh well I like them. Anything you can make yourself in my opinion has a higher value than anything store bought and is well worth being made fun of a little. But yours do look better than mine. haha
in reply to: Bow Tuning #38670Duncan
I shoot about 1/2 inch above center. When I got mine it was pretty loud but I measured my brace height and it was around 6 1/2. Moved it up to around 8 and it quieten it down A LOT. Thats just what works for mein reply to: Bow Tuning #37650Well how did you like how she shot?? To answer your question. Yeah I think so. If its the back of the arrow kicking up you move it up if its the whole arrow shooting high then you move it down. I think thats right anyway. You could always paper tune it to get it exactly right.
