in reply to: Giving It Up #54727
I go back and forth between hunting on the ground and in a tree. I do like the view from the tree and the ability to see the deer coming sooner. I find that I sit more quietly in a tree and to fidget more on the ground.
in reply to: 1st time Colorado Elk hunting! #52551I would have to second David’s advise and opinion. I did my first CO Elk Hunt this past year with a friend who had hunted the area we were in previously. It had changed in the three years he was last year. There was easier access which made for more idiots on ATV’s as well as more people in general. All that equalled no elk in the area. Good luck.
in reply to: long shots #48230I believe todays succeed at any cost mantra is the driving force. Some mnay of the outdoor shows have to have a kill on camera. You are not a ‘real” hunter unless you get something. Personaaly, I like them close. To me the closer they are for a shot means I did my job as a hunter.
in reply to: Great Northern Field Bow #47297I can’t comment on the Field Bow, but I like the Bushbow I got from Jerry. I agree with him being nice to talk to and deal with. I’m sure you will be happy with your purchase. Same for the quiver.
in reply to: A comment on crossbows #42414I have to agree with Brennan. It’s all about money here in PA. The PGC needs the money due to the Legislature not giving them a license increase for some time. We also have a lot of “Big Tent” people in the hunting ranks which, in my opinion, is a bad thing. More hunters equals more bad hunters.
in reply to: What if …? #37605I have good friends and family who hunt with compounds. Honestly, I am the only one that hunts with a stick in my little world. They make fun of my “kids” bow and then I show them a pic of the one shown in my profile and say, “He couldn’t tell it was a kids bow.”
I hunt trad now because its right for me. I do my preaching by example.
in reply to: Great Northern Bow #29271I have one of the Bushbows and like it. If was to purchase another, I would probably go with the Lil Critter.
in reply to: Montana pitch blend vs Obenauf's #29264I have used both and find them to work equally well.
in reply to: My 2012 season.. #19630Congratulations.
in reply to: Your First Few Years Into Trad Bowhunting? #59986I went back and forth between sticks and wheels for a number of years, the wheels I now realize were a crutch. However, traditional just seems so natural now that I can’t switch back. Everything from the simplicity to the beauty of the bow makes it more rewarding for me.
in reply to: Shrew Bows #29183Thanks David.

in reply to: Another miss. Input welcomed. #18918Roger Norris wrote: If you are close enough to see thier eyes bat….you are doing it right. Learn to control the rush. It can only happen through experience.
If you don’t get the rush….quit doing it. 😀
I second Roger’s advice. I experienced the same with the one I’m pictured with this year. When the knees started to shake, I remembered to bend them and focused on the spot and then released. It will come Brother, enjoy the ride!
in reply to: Got another nice doe with ERC bow… #18914Congratulations!!
