in reply to: Ducks, Politics and Money #47085
“By terminating me for no reason related to my work for the magazine and the organization, DU has essentially taken the position that wealthy donors matter more than the outdoor recreationists they purport to represent.”
Unfortunately the above is not limited to DU. Money is taking public land access away or exploiting the lands resources everywhere. Sadly the groups that say they work for us are actually working for the special interests and their greed. The lackeys that run these groups are only looking out for themselves and their interests as well. Don’t be one of the sheep that follow their mantras as gospel for sportsmen and women.
in reply to: Elk Hearts movie #26902I thought it was very well done and really glad it came about.
in reply to: Ragg bag filling #10927I have been filling burlap sacks with the plastic shopping bags you get everywhere these days. I fill one bag with several other bags as with bread bags or any other plastic bag. It stops arrows from my 57 lb Bushbow with no problems. Easy arrow removal too.
in reply to: My condolences Don #59637Don, sorry for your loss. Thoughts and prayers to you and your family.
in reply to: Back stops #46102I have a horse stall mat too and it works fine.
in reply to: Does it really matter ? #46096If it helps, we were not allowed to drink milk when we ate fish or able to eat a banana after 6PM! Eidsvolling’s logic sounds good to me.
in reply to: Custom Bow Makers #43747I have a GN Bushbow. Jerry was awesome to deal with, I don’t think you would be disappointed with one his bows.
in reply to: Feeling Guilty #12702Thanks guys for taking time to respond. As someone who hunted everything when I was younger, I suppose the yearning to go out in rifle season is instinctual for me. I believe I have come to the point in my life that the means is now more important than the end. Don’t get me wrong, I much prefer deer meat over beef any day, but I guess now it tastes better to me if I shop with the “stick”.
in reply to: How many bucks? #52349PA is one buck per year irregardless of the weapon. Antlerless tags are alotted by management unit. A hunter can apply for up to three antlerless tags with more available in special reg areas.
in reply to: Ground Hunnting #25683Congratulations! I have been doing more ground stand hunting lately too. I would have to say it makes things more simple for me. Today I walked over an hour to my spot carrying all my tree stand equipment and…saw nothing! I too found a new spot yesterday for a ground blind on private property I recently received permission to hunt. After today I can’t wait to try that one out.
in reply to: Lost Season, Maybe Worse #23654Sorry to hear of your injury. As I’m getting older I try to do my best to warm-up and stretch the shoulder and arm muscles. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
in reply to: My Trad Bowhunting season is (not) over! #19017I have been at that same place to Alex. With very few deer encounters this year so far and a miss at a doe to boot, I often let my mind wander to back to “maybe its the bow”. Maybe I should just go get the Hoyt and the release. However, when I have time to think things out, I know in my heart I am a Traditional Bowhunter. The last few deer I took with my compound, to me, was just killing a deer. Don’t get me wrong, I love to eat deer meat, but the thing that gets my heart rate going, is hunting with the stick.
in reply to: My Solo Moose Hunt and Tribute to Bart #19002Congratulations Mike. Thank you for sharing your awesome story and pictures. A fitting tribute to your friend to say the least.
in reply to: Broadheads #15666I use the 200gr Werewolf and my picture shows the result. He was ten yards broadside and I got total penetration with a Shrew Recurve that pulled 48lbs. The blood trail was visible from my tree stand and he went about 80 yards. They fly and work well for me.
in reply to: Week 2 of PA season #12387Congratulations! I hope this weather soon breaks.
