Great interview – David is always my vote for the voice representing the hunt and hunter. It would have even been better if it was just an interview with David only. But that is just my bias.
I am happy for you and jealous of you at the same time! Still looking for my Buck this year. Enjoy!

Steve…had I never built a second or third bow I may have thought of myself as a master bowyer. But those thoughts quickly gave way to the reality of bow making challenges that came with the learning experience. I am still working on getting the absolute perfect finish on my bows.
in reply to: What ya got goin? #12933I was using my Camo one piece. This was the first bow I made going on eight years ago and still my favorite. 😀
in reply to: What ya got goin? #12923I got out for a 10 mile hike/deer hunt today – necessary due to rifle season most of the local rifle hunters don’t walk far from the truck. I found some sign but did not locate the big buck. Found some fresh beds and droppings that were very fresh.
in reply to: Yes! Yes! and Yes! Update #61267I got news today that the owner and his family are hunting the ranch this week through the weekend. I should get news later this week if they will open the opportunity for me and my son.
It would actually be pretty amazing to have a place to go like this with a crazy group of guys like you all.
in reply to: Trad shops near Los Angeles #42533Your time may be past but you could check with the Pasadena club to see what is around.

in reply to: Added snakeskins to my 2015 hunting bow! #29236Steve – here is the short version. I once had a large collection of boas and they were in the house in what I called the reptile room. I had a variety of other reptiles as well. My wife at one point requested that I be done with that hobby. So I sold all but a couple snakes and moved them out into the garage. One day I noticed that my one Boa seemed to be paralyzed…she could not move the bottom 3rd of her body. She stopped eating and slowly got weak and unresponsive. within days had died.
I have no idea what happened but when I cleaned out her cage I discovered a large Black Widow spider. Her cage was large 2x2x4 only the front was Plexiglas the rest was wood.
I am not absolute that this was the cause of her death but I could not come up with another reason.
in reply to: Added snakeskins to my 2015 hunting bow! #28529Thanks everyone! The snakeskin is Redtail boa. It was a snake I raised and unfortunately it was bitten by a black widow spider and did not survive.

in reply to: Added snakeskins to my 2015 hunting bow! #27324After much research I settled on Titebond III it dries a natural color rather than the yellow tint of Titebond II. It is not a difficult process at all. If you would like I will forward you some of the instructions I followed.

in reply to: What ya got goin? #19444I just found the Vintage Bows II book on lulu.com for 5.99 in e-book format and picked it up! I am loving the read – great info on the history of bows. I am currently reading through the first section on production bows. Thanks for noting the book! Also the e-version has full color pics. I read the the hard copy does not.
in reply to: board bow build question #9393The glass bows I make are laminated bows with glass on back and belly.
