starting on the basic level……complete rubdown with no scent salt deodorant cyrstal….[ all i’ve uses for life for ever ]……all all over…….it works…..rub your feet down and then see how long you can wear a pair of socks before they say hello……..after the shower of course. taking for granted that your clothing is washed in a no-scent soap………all the outer wear …bow…gloves…..including the leafy jacket and hat plus backback…..get smoked once a day in the corner of the bow shed. i use a small chimera and natural cedar…pine…..etc. the corner is pretty much an enclosed closet so when i say smoked……they get smoked. that plus the fact that all my whitetail hunting is done in hip boots…i no longer worry about wind direction or getting my trai busted…..period…….deer are curious about the smoke smell……but never bolt from it…..but….you have to smoke your duds at least once a day……..

have a drawer full of store bought…..custom…..but down the road i decided that none equaled the d.h. russel original belt knife design……..the original design is always in my pack…….the trout and bird design [ the smaller blade in the photo ] is my neck knife and i can’t count the number of whitetail it has boned out……….for the money…….not a better blade out there.

this one is tefflon…….home made on the wapiti……over the deapest part of the riser grip face…….silent….slick as os………shoots where you ask it too…….a little hard to glue on the leather plate and stick……but once you figure that out, it’s simply awesome………..

based on the 2008 study update, part 2……….one gets the most bang for the buck with the lower weight bows when one shoots not efoc…….but uefoc…….29 to 32 %…..the few % points seem to put the lower weight bows in a whole other class when on goes up to that kind of uefoc. and…….i concur………i’m shooting a 45 # chastain at 27……actually about 43# since i have a 26 1/2 inch draw…….beman 500’s …4 fletch 60/120 3 inch fletch low profile….with a turbulator. the front end has the 250 vpa 3 blade/100 grn brass broadhead adaptor ….either screw in or glue on……with a 27 1/2 shaft……i’m running right around 29.5 % uefoc……..arrow flight is just a ball of fletch going down range…….the loose is whisper quiet…….now 90+% of all my deer kills have been at 20 yrds or less as for back as i can remember……so the curved cresent horizontal moon trajectory of this arrow from this bow really doesn’t give me much pause…….i’m comfortable with it out to 30 yrds……my point on with my gap system is 23 yrds shooting 3 under…..as for pass throughs since i went to the vpa’s last year…..[ always a simmons safari user before ] having killed only 3 deer last year…..the first doe was shot front to…….the arrow disapeared lenght wise through the torso…….the second was a bad shot [ spine ]….the doe whent down like she had been hit in the brain with a hammer……the 3rd was the awesome animal i played chess with since 2008…….it was a pass through at 11 yrds…..170 gross score ending a once in a life time game between two old warriors.

to say i’m impressed with the uefoc arrows out of that kind of bow weight for hunting…….well…..i have no plans on ever looking back. now come the 3d summer run…….i drop way back to about a 550 shaft and foc in the low twenties…….about the only way i can hang with the crazy long range 3d shooting friends i play with. pretty much….you can see it…..you shoot it……for score and fun. by standers often get their minds blown with what a good shooter can do with a trad bow…way down range……

but again……..the performance that the doctor was getting out of the 40 # bow was not from efoc arrows…..it was from uefoc arrows…….the few % points of difference……being really really big when it comes to performance…………if one is going the high foc route with lower weight bows……uefoc….with absolute arrow tuning is the secret.

for years…….i’ve used the simmons safari…..and can’t remember the number of deer i’ve taken with them. i’ve also broken them in half…..had them skip off of ribs from an extreme quartering angle. however once in the thorax area of the animal……i can remember losing only one animal with them. that being said…..i switched to the vpa 3 blade 275 glue on this year….total arrow weight of 630 grains ….efoc…….out of 43 lb chastain and with the results i had this year……with the kills…..the bloodtrails……there will be no looking back as long as i can get my hands on them. simple to sharpen beyond the point where they will cut air……imho……the absolute best broadhead on the market today……….

go to your local farm store and buy a bottle of permethrin……..mix it 1 oz to 15 oz water in a spray bottle. spray all of your outer hunting digs…..you must wear a face mask for this to work…..spray the face mask all so……..saturate everything and let it dry…….when dry it is innert as for as harming you. there might be a slight order but smoking your duds will kill that.

mosquitoes may buzz…….but they won’t land nor bite…….their life is over in seconds if they do and they sense this………ticks don’t get it and just crawl and die. i hunt the eastern shore of maryland and no country has mosquitoes like we do……this is the only thing i ever do regarding them and they simply are not a problem. just do a re-treat every week or soooooo……….no stinking deet…….no harmful chemicals…….no plastic machine to mess with.:!::!:
