in reply to: NRA pros and cons #47821
I don’t think the little clip about the Polar Bears is so much a scare tactic but harsh reality. There are major changes happening in the North and around the world. Canada and the U.S. should be leaders in this area! The current Canadian gov’t is not! I’m not a tree hugger, just concerned for the future of my grandchildren.
P.S. I don’t know much about the NRA or constitutions!!!
Bruce.in reply to: Ode to a Mountain Trail #45365Very well done! I read it first thing Sunday morning.
Somehow it seems appropriate for a Sunday.
Brucein reply to: Footed shafts #34700I saw your finished arrows Desert Dude. They were a work of art! You should go into the arrow business.

Bruce 🙂in reply to: Footed shafts #23717Dave I have not ordered anything yet. I was going to order “Gyyrafacon” from Whispering Winds but at the same time I have a new recurve on order. I contacted my bowyer to get specs that I needed to order the arrows and he suggested that better to wait until I have the bow. Not sure now I have ordered bow weight @ 46# – 48# @ 28″ with fastflite string. The bow is supposed to be ready end of March. Kinda wanted arrows so I could shoot. I really like the idea of the laminated pine and have heard good thing from my bowyer about Whispering Winds. Let me know how yours work. Thanks.

#2 For deer the correct use of a grunt call is a definite advantage. It works best during the pre-rut session usually lasting about a week and works like MAGIC during the main rut. It will definitely bring in inmature bucks and on occasion the larger bucks. Being able to see the animal while calling is a definite advantage, as you can see the reaction. There are other calls for deer the can, rattling antlers,I’ve tried them all and find that the grunt tube works the best. Don’t over-do it. In area with high hunting pressure calling is less affective.
Calling moose and elk the same. Different sounds, different times. GOOD LUCK !!! Bruce.in reply to: Big milestone in my life(first vehicle) #14425Congratulations Chris!! Darn good looking truck. If its got lots of miles you would sure not tell by looking at the body. My truck is an 06 red Ford 4×4 extended cab. I just got it this past summer. The 06 was half the price of new. The red is a very easy color to keep clean. Mine almost self cleans. Congrats again! You’ll like the 4×4!
BruceWe enjoy watching birds especially in the winter. We have a bird feeder and with black sunflower seeds we attract chickadees, nuthatches, a few variety of woodpeckers, and occasionally jays. Not as many jays,my mother feels they have been affected with the “west nile virus” similar to what has affected crows. If we are fortunate to have a deer we hang the carcass in an oak tree just outside the window. Everything likes that except finches and sparrows. We have even had magpies and a small weasel at the deer ribs.
Watching birds at a bird feeder can be as entertaining as a real good movie! Always keep bird book handy. Bruce.in reply to: 300 yard 22lr shooting! #11429Should we not be a little more careful with REMARKS
on these forums!
Bruce.in reply to: 300 yard 22lr shooting! #11205Awesome Chris ❗ Assuming a gun is sighted in @ approximately 75 yards, how much would you have to hold over @ 300 yards. I’ll guess about 10 feet. Pretty vague guess.
Bruce.in reply to: Shooting Game Already Dead..issues? #9274I would not shoot or test on an animal that is already down. The animal does deserve respect!!!!
In todays modern world, there has to be synthetic materials that would work to simulate these animals for arrow and broadhead testing.
If the animal is down, no need to test anyway.
The arrow obviously did its job. Bruce.in reply to: Footed shafts #8917Thanks for your help guys. I was able to find both sites. Both had exactly what I was looking for. The Whispering Winds group have a laminated hex shaft out of pine. Both had good description and display of their product.
Brucein reply to: Greetings from Europe / new member #55610Greetings Daniel. I really enjoyed your videos. Especially the slow motion arrows. Amazing!!!!!

in reply to: Hunting Binoculars #55077I have a pair of Bushnell 10 x 42 Excursion. They were in the $250 range in Canada. They are average size and I really like them. I had tried a very expensive pair of Zeiss that were in the $900 price range. on a 30 day trial period. I returned them and got the Bushnell. I found very little difference in the two pairs of binos. I was told that in low light conditions, the expensive ones are better. Hope this helps. 😉
