Well said Cottonwood. They still can hunt but in rifle and muzzle season. Same opportunities as gun hunters. Everyone should be happy:D

They seem to flip up when shot. Ive tried nock up and down and it still seems to fly nock high, when paper tuning at 6-9′
I put lipstick on fletch and it left mark on the sideplate of the bow.
I’ve also tried a 1/8″ spacer on the sideplate and it didn’t change anything.
I shot a 2117 aluminum arrow and it left a horizontal tear on the newspaper.I would appreciate any advice you guys may have. Why didn’t I think of that:) Bruce
Would heavier heads maybe help with the wood arrows that are flipping around?in reply to: arrow tuning #45372I shoot split fingers. I moved the nock down a good 1/8″ and it made a huge difference. Don’t know how I got it up so high to start with:? The 2117 flew good as far as I could tell. The wood arrows still have a little “flip up” and I’m wondering if increasing the head weight would help? Can’t really go down in weight.
Brucein reply to: arrow tuning #44168Brace height is 7 3/4″ which is recommended by the bowyer.The nock is at 3/4″ above horizontal. I’ve tried up down and it didn’t seem to make a difference. I’ve spent a little money on custom footed shafts and would like to make them work. Another wood shaft that I have for my older 58# recurve flew pretty well out of the new bow.:? I’m not sure of its spine.
Brucein reply to: My Java Man Elkheart: The Four Year Wait Is Over #33964Very Nice!! Like the limb tips.
in reply to: Bow Season vs. Crossbows #33094Actually Hiram I don’t know who Nugent is or do I care! My point was that somebody that loves and beholds the crossbow has every opportunity to use it in Manitoba.
It can be used during the muzzleloader season,which is another” bloody farce all of its own”.And it can be used in the regular firearm season. And I believe in elk and moose rifle draw seasons as well. The crossbow owners have no reason to whine as they have lots of opportunity to use it in these seasons.Lord please give us the common sense to keep it this way!
Brucein reply to: Saponification #31601Good little project for tip of the week Steve!
Bruce:wink:
PS Not the SHADY part!in reply to: Bow Season vs. Crossbows #30293Well said Hiram! Still able to use the crossbow in a rifle or muzzleloader season, at least in Manitoba.
Brucein reply to: Ladies, welcome to the campfire. #25438To Rayborbon;
Your endeavors of teaching young people how to build bows is a fabulous undertaking. In Killarney our local Wildlife Association has a “Sportsman of the Year Award”. This awards is given to an individual who does lots to promote hunting and good sportsmanship with youth. If you lived here you would be the UNANIMOUS WINNER. It is inspiring to know that we have people like you willing to give up their own recreation and hunting time to premote the hunting sports with youth. My hat goes off to you:!:
Brucein reply to: Multitool Suggestions #62592I’ve had the Leatherman Wave for approximately six years.Excellent quality! The little dome that keeps the sheath closed, kept popping open, I phoned Leatherman and they sent a new one PRONTO. No charge!:D

Picture two does not accommodate broadheads, or arrows with feathers front and centre made in Michigan.
