in reply to: Just like a bad penny… #61566Hey Patrick good to have you back and yes I did miss that little bit of sarcasm that you became famous for ! People wanting autographs etc.
I too am afflicted by the “Demon” but I think maybe I have found the cure via a “clicker”. I have one now on both of my bows and without getting to cocky I think there may be some hope! I am very optomistic anyway.
Downside of the clicker is that it is a gadget for sure, and the string form the clicker tends to wrap around the bowstring sometimes.
The book you suggested by Jay Kidwell was excellent !

in reply to: Cresting – anyone do it without a machine? #41272I built a cresting machine a while back using a small motor from an exhaust fan that was hooked up to a dimmer switch similar to that you would find on a dining room light. The dimmer switch slowed the fan speed considerably.
The shaft on the small motor was 1/4″ I had a 3″ piece of rubber hose that fitted over the shaft, the other end of the hose accepted the tapered wood arrow shaft. It was on a wood frame. The cresting end of the shaft sat in a v groove in a wood block that was lined with moleskin. It worked pretty good as far as rotation and speed was concerned I didn’t have the talent:wink: lately I have bought two sets of custom wood arrows and are happier with them especially the crest !!
BruceWe do play a role in Natures cycle for sure ! No question !
If we had a healthy fur industry, as of 20 years ago, the problem would be pretty much non-existant. The easy answer is to shoot the wolf or coyote and sell the hide.
Problem is the hide is almost worhtless! I trap as a hobby. The coyotes I get are taken to a local individual that skins, stretches and prepares the hide. He charges $10.00 per animal which is very reasonable. The last ones I sold averaged $30.00. Not very profitable but good exercise and lots of fun, and also very humbling or challenging whichever way you look at it. It also provides the reason that Wildeshein talks about.

I’m not the expert but I think they will need your draw length as well, to determine proper spine.
