in reply to: Gap Method #18847
Experimenting a little bit, index finger in corner of mouth, which feels more comfortable than mid-finger there. Anyway when I shoot my aiming point seems to be in the ground, considerably lower than what is comfortable. Shooting at 20 to 30 yards.
I plan on getting ” Masters of the Barebow 3″. Just trying to “feel the waters” a bit, before I spend a summer of practicing and find out it was not for me.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

in reply to: Critter Stories #14896Really enjoyed your story Steve. I really don’t have anything that comes remotely close. I had a squirrel come in very close in a treestand once, it was all fun until he started to take little bites at the tip of my recurve.

in reply to: How Was Your Winter? #8722Very mild winter in Southwestern Manitoba with a very small amount of snow. Supposed to be a mild week so by mid-week we will likely have very little snow left.
Still ice fishing. Might be short-lived.

in reply to: Why onestring? #63452I like the challenge of getting accurate with the bow ! I’m at a point in life where I have fewer obligations, hence more spare time to practice shooting:wink: Nothing feels better than hitting the mark when shooting instinctive.
I also love the looks and feel of my recurves and custom wood arrows.
Like that “Onestring” description !

in reply to: what do your arrows cost? #55902I use custom made, footed, pine hex shafts that cost around $12 per arrow. this does not include the heads. I love wood arrows and used to make them myself, but sometimes I wasn’t that happy with the appearance. The custom made are awesome ! Professional looking, because they are made by a professional, not me:wink:

in reply to: How many bows do you have? #5284758# Fox Maverick Recurve
48# Caribow Tuktu Recurve
60# Browning Backdraft Compound
At this point I only shoot the recurves and the lighter one the most. “Age thing”.
They all have some sentimental value, and at this point, I plan on keeping them all!

in reply to: Meat grinder blues #49630I’ve had fairly descent luck sharpening the cutter on my hand grinder. I put it in a wood clamp to hold it secure and with a file sharpen following the existing angle of the cutter. It would be similar to sharpening a single bevel broadhead. You do not want to file the edge that is making contact with the plate. If the cutter is beyond sharpening I think they can be replaced. Hope that helps.
Bruce
PS; Don’t overtighten while clamping. they break easy.
Speaking from experience.
in reply to: New Quiver and Armguard – Rasher Quivers #45792Really look good !! I like the darker look of the leather.
I’m a little curious about the lacing on the armguard and how it is tightened to your arm ?

in reply to: Target Panic #26827Yes I use it while hunting. I wrap the metal portion of the clicker, that makes the click, with a bit of friction tape and this quietens it. The one little issue while hunting is keeping the little string, from tangling in bush, but its not really that much of a problem.

in reply to: Target Panic #26454Target Panic
For me it is a strong urge to release before attaining full draw or an anchor.
I manage the problem by means of a clicker. It seems to work. I really think I had the problem for a long time before I realized what the problem was. I just kept practicing and the more I shot the worst I got. I read an article in TBM on the use of a clicker by Jason Wesbrock and that article has been the turning point for me. Given my age,I doubt the problem will go away, and that’s why I use the word “manage”.
