Good one Mike!!!
in reply to: Western PA shoot #57231It is a private club but was open to the public for the shoot. It was trad only which was nice. Jason has more of the info on the location and the orginizers.
Dave I have to reread the “Year Long Day” as well….a great book. The quote breaks down my thoughts on life and hunting to the bare bones.
Mike and Jason thanks for the kind words on my shooting. I look forward to more shoots to come and a 2015 elk hunt….hmmmmm not a bad idea.
Jason I can’t wait to see your Elkheart when you get it (hopefully really soon) Gregg does such fine work…a true artist!
in reply to: Western PA shoot #56754Forgot to add that the shot of the day goes to Jason. I am sure Mike will agree that the 40 yard fallow deer double lung shot was quite awesome to witness!

in reply to: New Elkheart #45443Mike,
Great bow!!! Watch where you put her when your hunting. You just might lose her. Greg did a hell of a job as usual. Congrats again.

in reply to: Would you shoot a bedded animal? #45024Jim,
Good one! I have no problem if someone shoots a bedded animal. As long as it has a high perecentage of a kill. You still need to consider all the angles to get to the vitals. But I don’t think shooting a deer at 352 yards standing or bedded is fair chase. What part of the deers ability to flee and hide are you defeating?
It does remind me of one of Jim Corbett’s tiger kills. He had tracked it down and found it sleeping. He had debated to wake it before shooting but in the end decided to shoot her as not to risk her getting away and eating more people. But at least he closed to within bow range with a rifle in hand. Now there is some skill. Could you imagen doing such a thing. Nerves of steel and a little insane! My kind of guy.

in reply to: Daypacks and Binos #40730in reply to: Daypacks and Binos #39500Jim – nice set up.
R2- I use the harness style for my binos. I wear them with my day pack that is similar to Jim’s. The bino harmess I have is elastic so I can still pull them up with the pack on. I will take some pics while out hunting today.
in reply to: Neat Dialogue #38217Don,
A few friends and I reference True Detective at work a times. When we get into situations that are reminiscent of parts of the show somebody throws out a Rust quote. But that scene you reference when they track that fellow is great. I enjoyed the voice over of the story they tell of what occurred while actually watching what really happens go down. A well done show…enjoy the end.
I shot my bow today!

in reply to: Paper Tuning Results – 10/4/14 #34941SH,
Did you try shooting them without the fletching? Wondering if the holes would be the same or not. Something to try anyway.
