in reply to: Bear Montana? #23423
I really like my Bear Montana8)I’ve been able to tune it so that its real quiet! 50#@28 and I only shoot wood arrows. Its a real smooth shooter and I purchased it used for $230. Hope that helps ya out.:)
in reply to: About to give up. #28419Some things that I noticed in your message and speaking from my own experience; When I shoot to the point of exhaustion I have found myself practicing poor form. I read somewhere that Instinctive Archery is 40% Form 30% focus and 30% attitude. If any of those three is lacking so will your marksmanship.Your expectations feed into that. A year is not a lot of time, especially with three different bows. So chose a bow, do not worry about the target as much as the group. Do not practice to exhaustion. Once you are satisfied with the group work on your aim. It took me years to get where I am and I am still learning. I would say maybe give up some of those expectations and see what happens:wink:

in reply to: Spectacles! #47042At age 40 I found it nec. to get bifocals:shock:and it took awhile for me to get used to it. I to would take my glasses off and shoot the center of the blur:roll:but then I just buckled down and reworked a part of my form for the better8) Sometimes it really sucks getting older

in reply to: How many bows do you have? #29366This is my first Post, Greetings to all! Been lurkin for awhile and I really have enjoyed the forum. I have an older Bear Kodiak Hunter Recurve @ 45# that I have been casting arrows with for over ten years.8) My favorite right now is my Bear Montana Longbow @ 50#.:) I also have made a D style Longbow out of Yew That turned out really smooth @ 47#, but it is in need of a limb repair. It developed a hinge and I have not got around to do the repair yet. Then there is my project yew long-familiar-bow that is still under construction. And to top it off I am considering a Hoyt Game master for the future. I also like to tinker around with my arrows.
