These are a couple more pictures of my wifes little Hunter/Skinner in process.
in reply to: Camp Pics Thread #131120We purchased land in the summer of 2016. It is 6.5 acres of heaven, surrounded by 400 acres of huntable land. We were looking for a place to build a camp and be able to hunt and just get away from our town. We are on the outskirts of the “city”. The land is 20 minutes from home which is a nice escape, but a short ride back if we forget something. After purchasing the land we had it select cut of hardwood for lumber. The land had not seen a chainsaw in 40 years. The canopy was so thick, on a bright sunny day, it was shaded and cool. Problem was, there was nothing growing that deer would be able to feed on. We ended up selling the lumber and then in the fall my dad and I cut up the firewood and split it. In the spring, we went up and stacked it all, and by the end of the summer it was all sold. On June 30th, 2017, My dad and I started building my Shamp(Shed/camp). 70 hours of labor and 14 days of work and the outside was dried in. A couple weekends, here and there during the fall, and the interior was 90% finished. Unfortunately, bow season rolled around and we never got the heat installed, so we called it a good year and proceeded to hunt. We actually got more done than we had originally planned. We hunted the land during the rut, after I had already taken my firearm deer. I was basically guiding my wife. She got to see her first buck chasing a hot doe. Hopefully this year we will be able to christen the camp with its first deer. I will attach some pics.
The last pic was of Labor Day with my Family at Shamp. Doing a little shooting and barbecuing.
in reply to: The Trad Knife Thread #131089Scout- Thank you. I coated them in Tung oil. I guess I never got a picture of them completely finished. LOL
in reply to: The Trad Knife Thread #131085I am new to Tradbow. I would like to share a few knives that I have made. They are all hunter/skinners. They are made from 1095. Cut out with a hacksaw and beveled with a bastard file. Heat treated in my coffee can forge and hand polished down to 600 grit. I etched my logo in the blade. Deer antler with my initials. I also made the sheaths. Made my own leather stamps(deer print and oak leaves). It was very enjoyable. The small knife on top was for my wife, then the 3 below it was for my brother and a couple friends. The dark wood was Bocate and the lighter was Honduran Rosewood. These were made 2 summers ago. I planned on more last summer, but built my hunting camp instead.

in reply to: The Last Hunt #130841Beautifully written. Sorry for your loss. I do everything with my brother, and I couldn’t imagine life without him. God bless.
