I must admit, when you stopped at the log, turned your back to the camera and started taking your gear off I totally misread what was going to happen. I didn’t know your haversack had a waist belt and when you started fiddling with it I thought “Oh my god, he videoed a wee break?” 😆
in reply to: Neck Knife #55466Both good looking little knives fellas.
in reply to: Wool Poncho #54677Don’t worry Doc, I know about them because I’ve seen every one of his westerns… more than once 😉
in reply to: Wool Poncho #54361Clint Eastwood made a bunch of poncho “how to” videos in the 60’s 😉
But seriously, I’m sure he had that mexican poncho slung over one shoulder and out of the way.
in reply to: Declining Animal Populations #52789Steve, I read that too. Sad news. In the report I read it mentioned that South American deforestation was one of the big factors.
This is actually a field that Australia excels at. Apparently in our first 100 years the extinction rate on our continent equalled that of the entire world for the 400 years previous. (I’m not sure how reliable global biological surveys were in the late middle ages but that factoid came from a pretty reliable source http://www.abc.net.au/radionational/programs/bushtelegraph/extinct-species-book/5769194)

That is a very clever idea 💡
in reply to: Someone has been PEEKING!!! #47967That was good Doc 🙂 The girl archer laughing at him reminded me of a documentary about archery in Bhutan, where it’s such a cultural mainstay, instead of club vs club, they have village vs village shoots. Women aren’t allowed to shoot but when the men are shooting the women from the opposing village gather around them and taunt them, “singing songs that question the archer’s virility”. Hahaha.
in reply to: "a safe and painless death" #47804Well said Clay.
Edit: And well done to guys like Roderick as well. He makes it clear he doesn’t have any first hand experience, he’s just asking questions and voicing reasonable concerns like any normal, decent person. How else is someone who is ignorant about an issue going to learn about it?

Hahaha, after I married my American wife, my Kentuckian father in law introduced me to a group of his friends. He said “Fellas, this is my new son Jim. He’s a great guy but you won’t understand a word he says.”
I guess it’s a common thing! But the irony of a Kentuckian complaining about incomprehensible English was not lost on me 😉
in reply to: 2014 Hunting #46902Gorgeous quiver Alex, and how good is the french word for bow? Arc, it describes the shape of the bow and the flight of the arrow. There’s a succinct aestheticism to that 😀
in reply to: Made a new quiver for the opener #45528Darren,
That’s an absolute beauty mate! Congratulations on a job well done 😀 I really like the caiman skin.
Best of luck for your deer hunt.

Happy 10th Anniversary Alex 😀
Bruce, I think the second coming of Phrank could be achieved through the liberal use of duct tape 😉
I was outfitter and guide for a Billy Berger inspired afternoon hunt today…
Hiking into the hunting grounds:
Checking for sign:
Game claimed! (It’s possible dad knocked it out of the sky with his hat and handed it to the little adventurer when no one was looking.. but we’ll never know)
in reply to: Lethality testing #44709Hey Kensei,
You might be able to get some confidence at least if you share details about your bow (type of bow, draw weight) and arrow set up (weight, materials, broadhead) and what you intend to hunt with it. That way you can at least draw on the experience of others here and folks could tell you how that stacks up with their experiences.
I think you’ll find out pretty quick that there are a lots of factors more contributory to lethality than arrow speed 😉

in reply to: What are your favorite trad pictures? #43383Iron Bull, that’s a great photo mate 😀 Is that a full ghillie or just a head and shoulders?
Here’s a ripper BHA published somewhere:
