Hey Pothunter, Thanks for the heads up. I will be checking Soar’s book out. Cornwell is pretty good too. I would like to read more on the history and use of the longbow,so off to the library I go… Andy

Hey Carl, yes it is a longbow. 69 inches in length. hickory core , cherry risers and a bamboo belly and back. 45# in pull. As I said in my earlier post it shoots better than my hickory self bow, but my self bow “talks” to me more…

          Hey Ariel,
I live in Northwest Washington state, about 2 hours from Seattle. If you are close on your visit, I would love to show you our shooting club. Good luck in your archery adventures. andy

Hey Y’all, We have a great small game season here in Washington state. However most guys I know only go after big game. They sure don’t know what they are missing. You can learn a lot about stalking when you go after grouse, rabbits, etc… What I hear when I ask about small game hunting, is mostly “why ? ” Hopefully with some more invites to hunt, I can “show them the error of their ways”

Well I still don’t know who made the bow or where it is from. But now having shot it, I find that it shoots flatter and faster than my 50# hickory self bow. That being said I think I like my hickory bow better. andy

Hey y’all just thought I’d weigh in here. I think Johnny2 is quite correct. The time we spend hunting should be deeply personal. After all we might take a life. I don’t want to sound too “touchy feely” but an animal we hunt and or kill deserves our respect. The guys on the hunting shows who hoop and holler are making hunting out to be a spectator sport. As game and land stewards we must be as respectful and responsible as we can. Our future as hunters depends on our actions today. andy

in reply to: NRA pros and cons #40373

The NRA has done a lot to protect our gun rights and to promote shooting sports. However I feel like there is a “you are with us, or against us” attitude, which makes me feel unwelcome. That being said I shudder to think what would happen to gun rights/ gun owners, if the NRA was not around.
