in reply to: Where has my season gone??? #50095SteveMcD wrote: I would say “Big Game Hunting Season” was dedicated to Bowhunting Only! Luckily, in New York although there are three separate seasons, we can bowhubnt through all of them. But, we also have access to a lot of Bowhunting Only areas the entire time too! As the MasterCard commercial goes… “PRICELESS”!!
Yes
in reply to: Where has my season gone??? #49878No I don’t think it has, because I didn’t get distracted by any new interests. Bowhunting season was dedicated to Bowhunting! :D:D Sorry bud
in reply to: short bows #48893Since every thing in the Modern History book of Bowhunting has been successfully hunted with 66″ to 72″ longbows, I feel that my 62″ “modern” Black Widow longbow is plenty short.
Having said that, one of my good friends has 2 Shrews, and I couldn’t help ordering a 56″ classic hunter. So, when I get it, in 14 years, er, I mean 14 months :-), I’ll give you my unbiased assessment 🙂in reply to: Merry Christmas #48773Merry Christmas from New York
in reply to: End of the Trail for 2009 #48755Steve,
Although I’m largely a solo hunter as well, I thoroughly enjoyed the time spent together. I hope we can do it again next year. Oh, and also thank you for givin’ up your honeyhole 🙂

I think a true reverse handle longbow is probably one of those undiscovered secrets out there. I’m grateful Steve still makes them.I know he loves to shoot them.
I’ll tell you another secret:
Steve stalks whitetails walking … backwards. Supposedly they think he’s walking AWAY and not towards 😀in reply to: recurve/mechanical release #41616Not traditional, but possible, effective, and useful if you no longer can use your fingers, but still would like to shoot trad bows. About a year after selling my compound ( I just had a one year love affair with it, HA), I discovered I still had a leftover release. Just being curious, I took a few shots with my trad bows, at that time they were a 68″ yew lams longbow and a Hatfield recurve, using that release. After settling on different anchor points than finger release, I remember that it worked very well. Of course that release is long gone:lol:
in reply to: Tail cams?? #41398Just the word “infra-red” makes me nervous when used in the same sentence with Nature and Hunting. Why bring this tech into Nature? Why is it so imperative to know what “you have” in one’s area? Personally, i don’t want to know what’s inside the box when i open a present. And since i will never travel to hunt inches, spreads or record books, i don’t need to see what this outfitter “has” versus his neighbor. Which makes me wonder if cameras are just not another tool to make money or have a name in a book
