I don’t know… Tred as a person is to be greatly admired. His hunting philosophy is good too. I just wish he would walk the talk! By example.
Ohh.. I wish Hunting Season would start here! OCT 15th!!!Steve, I was going to write something like that. I watched him flinging arrows at running Elk from 30-40 yards, and was not happy either. Regardless, the message in this video remains solid as a rock to me. Plus he is a champion of public land access, from the multi million dollars shores of the Hamptons, to the National Forests of the West.
If only someone would teach Tred how and when to shoot!!!in reply to: Congratulations Dave #39310That was a great day to be on the mountain! Packing such a beautiful animal with Dave was a priceless experience. The Elk are making it really hard for me, since they are nowhere to be found for the last 3 days. I’ve been hiking, glassing and hunting from before sunrise to sunset everyday. But, there is still tomorrow !!8)
Great stuff!! Thank you

If it weren’t for the ones I see along the road I’d be completely elk deprived. The good news is that it hints at what closed roads can do to change wildlife patterns. Good luck on your hunt.
Jembo, let me get that right; in New Mexico, if you don’t draw, you can’t hunt??? no public, over the counter opportunities?? If it is so, that’s sad!

For most folks (who don’t have them living in their yard) an elk hunt is usually a costly affair. The cost of using a great broadhead is a small expense when considered against the total cost of the hunt, and will look like a bargan to anyone who ends up hitting an elk with less than ‘enough arrow’.Ed
I AGREE !
in reply to: Elk Season is only 36 days away! #29027THIS WAS LAST YEAR, AT THE VERY TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN!
in reply to: Elk Season is only 36 days away! #29022Great pics, T ! I was high up in Colorado this weekend. The smell of the pine forests gave me many fine flashbacks of last year’s hunt. I can’t wait!

The wood grain is also different as it is heat bonded to the shaft which makes it almost damage proof. I have these cut to 29″ and shooting a 125g point for 3D out of my 46# (at my draw) White Wolf longbow. The nice thing about these arrows is I can get awesome flight with 125g points and then move up to 200-225 grain point and get the same great flight. I didn’t think it was true until I personally tested it. I’ve even used a 300g point hog hunting and seen no different in flight, and the hog I shot didn’t like it one little bit…..:D
And you’re saying that adding 175gr to the front didn’t affect spine? That’s great, but I don’t understand, please explain, because I want to be able to do this myself!!
Yes I didn’t want to make you jaleous! Ron had the bow listed on his site, along with another CH. Since I didn’t want another CH at 55# or under, I chose the Lil’ Fav, 54″ 52# and maaaan does it QUIETLY spit an arrow, the same heavy Wapiti arrow as the CH’s by the way. It feels faster, even though it’s 3# lighter… Shorter, recurve limbs, maybe, I don’t know. Until I go to the shop and use their chrono, I won’t know which one is faster. Do I care? nope, not really. I love that bow and probably will make it a late season Whitetail bow or something like that
PS: Since I “sold out” and went “High-Tech” by buying a recurve, I was thinking of offsetting that choice by shooting wood only out of that bow 😆in reply to: Shrew in Sherwoo.. huh, no, Manhattan Forest #60097Jeremy Holden wrote: Good luck my friend. Have fun practicing your form. I too live in a similiar, communal, situation. I live in a townhouse community. I find much solice down in the garage shooting diagonally across. It doesn’t do much for distance practice but my form is great, or so I think. Take care.

Yes, kyu-do style, 3 yards, eyes closed, for months and months, working on the release as smooth as snow sliding off the tree leaf:D
