I soaked my glove for 1/2 an hour and let it dry by the radiator overnight, as dave suggested, and this morning it turned out to be the PERFECT size! the finger stalls don’t warp around anymore, which was my main problem. Thanks DP

Aaah, munchkins! They make the best targets, but hard to hit, since they don’t stand still, and you can’t stop’em with a fawn bleat!!:lol:

I think it’s a riot that a guy living in Harlem can shoot 25 yards inside his home, while I live in a rural area and can only manage 13 yards in my basement. How do you manage shooting outside, living in NYC?
:D:D Haha, Jason! Funny, heh? Well, I spend some weekends at my daughter’s home in the Hudson Valley, in the town of Beacon, NY. I hunt in Garrison and Beacon and her house is also my hunting camp. Most of my hunting and archery gear ( except bow ) stays in her garage. I tune arrows in her large backyard. From there I take my block, and Makenzie deer to various hayfields and woods.

And are those some sweet bocote limbs I see?
These are Zebrawood lams over foam core/carbon, Bruce.
That bow is so fast, it’s scary! The 650gr padded arrow hits the pillow with such force, I sometimes wonder if they can hear the noise in the street! 😀

in reply to: Winter Range #37612Harlem, NY Winter range, 24 yards. Going hunting this weekend, and I haven’t shot in two weeks because of traveling. So I’m on it 2X a day. I will stump shoot in the woods before I hunt though.
The target: Tibetan goat blanket folded in 3 layers. It’s a little unnerving to have a window and a mirror that close, but I aim low and it’s good for honing my “keep it together” skills for hunting!!:D
Heavily padded tip. Arrow still flies good. I practice also shooting eyes closed into an old pillow 2-3 feet away, for form. I need a new black box to shoot field tips. Arrows fly thru the old box now.

Wait a minute there!! Switzerland and Western Europe in general is a blessed by a mild, tempered climate bathed by the Gulf Stream. I never experienced sub-zero real cold until I arrived in the USA, namely Boston. But, I do like near freezing weather much more than Summer, and there’s a Swiss proverb that says: “there’s no bad weather, just bad clothing!” Otsi, our fur-clad Austrian/Italian neighbor knew that way back then!!:D
in reply to: Recurve or longbow ? #31729Like Dave said, recurves are no longer faster than longbows, thanks to advanced designs and space age material used in limbs, like foam cores and carbon. shoot lots of bows and you will choose wisely. Plus, if your arrows are in the 650gr neighborhood ( which is an excellent neighborhood ), add an efficient broadhead like grizzly, abowyer, or zwickey, you’re in the house all the way as far as good flight and penetration!

I’m not looking fwd to the tropical weather of St Thomas USVI where I’m flying to tomorrow. I’m not joking, I’d much rather be at Kzoo! 😥
But it’s time to make the doughnuts, and I gotta go!!
So, please post pics, Dave, ok?
in reply to: new bow help #31265those are my favorite bows. I had a 57# tomahawk SS diamond, 62″ long that I really shot well. better than my same specs BW longbow. My classic hunter is the only bow I shoot nowadays. for the last three years. it’s 56″ 55#
javaman who designed the CH, now makes the Elkheart, very similar. I will get one!
To me, the advantages of the Elkheart are the short length and the killer handle.
Good luck!
in reply to: New Robertson on the Way… #31221Things happen for the best, sometimes! It’s beautiful. I would like to see photos of the entire bow, strung, if it’s not too much to ask.:D I love the tips!!!
Which reminds me of the only time( besides ordering my beloved Classic Hunter) that I ordered a custom bow. It was a 3-piece recurve. I received the bow and saw that it had horn tips instead of Elk, like I wanted. I called him and he told me it was kudu tips, and that these where the only ones he used now. I sent the bow back and got my money back. After that, while still shooting my BW and Schafer Longbows, bought used on tradgang, I ordered the classic hunter. Once I shot the CH, I didn’t shoot any other bow thereafter. It’s been almost 3 years!!
