Same here, but in New York. I would just add that I also enjoy hunting in NJ during the whole month of January “Winter bow” season, with the REAL Jersey boys!!:D

I agree! I’ve been using SBD strings exclusively for 4-5 years! They’re great!

I switched to the old string and it was quiet again. I put the Scallops on the new string and I only get a dull thunk. Cheap enough and they arrive quickly and not over packaged.

Thanks for the info! I think I’ll get some

in reply to: Close encounters and backup #53308All your posts reinforce my personal choice: My only plan as far as grizzlies are concerned is to leave grizzly country alone, period! I have absolutely no desire to hike or hunt where they live. I will keep turning to Discovery channel to get my fixes! 😀

It’s Two Tracks Bow & Wool Co. The silencers are felted wool, top-end stuff at $12 for a 4-pack (for two bows). They don’t collect thorns or absorb water. I was hanging out at the Java Man booth at Kalamazoo when Gregg discovered them and wound up installing them on every bow he had there. Previously he’d used Cat Whiskers but got many complaints, like from me, that they just didn’t last any time with FF string. I was sufficiently impressed to buy a pack of Two Tracks and they’re fully up to expectations. With a well-tuned bow it’s all you need. They make some real pretty bows too, though I’ve not shot one.
My bow didn’t come with silencers! But anyway the bow is so quiet already! I took a shot in my living room, and I hardly heard anything. Just a whisper of a note, maybe around middle C !!:-)
I guess I will use woolie whispers from 3rivers. I trim them to make 3/4 of an inch to 1″ ball. It’s been working for me, and I have 2 pairs left!
in reply to: My first "harvest"… #51669That’s great! I don’t even know if we have those in the Hudson Valley’s decimated hemlock forests. I should give it a try this weekend!
in reply to: My Elkheart has arrived!! #51178The bow has arrived! It is absolutely beautiful and perfect for me! The handle is just like my Classic Hunter’s, although it feels juuust a tad fatter, which doesn’t bother me. It is the same length as the CH, 56″, but 2# heavier, coming in at 57# @ 28″. Its different shades of grey, black, beige and brown resemble my favorite bird, the robin, which is nice. I do have that padded arrow here in NYC, and I don’t think I can wait til Thursday, when I go up to the country, to shoot it! Gregg Coffey has done it again!! Here are pictures of this gorgeous bow:
