90 degrees today and Angella killed her deer last night ( single bevel grizzly 120 grains put quite the S cut in the heart but I digress) I had plenty of time today to get around to making up some arrows for this bow. Built these around the broadhead. Turned out pretty good.

Bow type and Make: Big Jim Thunderchild

      Bow Length: 54″

      Bow weight@ 28″: 54lbs

      Your draw length: 29″ ( I use a clicker)

Arrow type: Gold Tip ultra light Entrada 400

      Arrow length: 32.625

      Feathers number and length: 3/5″

      Insert weight: 100gr

      Adaptor weigh: 125 gr

      Point weight: 225 gr

      Footing weight if applicable: n/a

      Total arrow weight: 735 gr

      FOC: 29.3%

NOTE: also using 6″ arrow wraps

“Out there” is correct. The extent some go to refute and deny a comprehensive study leaves me shaking my head. The “by golly my 2016 and razorhead will kill anything on the plant….if I hit the vitals” well No Sh!t!!! Although…I’ve personally witnessed people hitting hogs in the vitals with their set ups and NOT get through to the vitals. Lol

Last time I checked the brain was a vital…this pic was taken at MCAAP. They hold trad only draw hunts there. Notice the bone growing through the opening in the blades as well as the shed antlers.

Stuff happens and an inch might as well be a mile when you

are only an inch short of a kill.

And the line gets blurred a little more! When will it stop?

But…but…but…if your hitting heavy bone than…but…but…but… Lol!

Just pure poetic beauty! Awesome hunt!

This is a pic of my dad and I after he killed a little nubbin head a few years ago on my lease. Set him in my best acorn tree and helped him blood trail it. Thr pic was from my point and shoot camera set on timer. This was before we “posed” for thr camera. Definitely captured the moment. You can tell by the orange it’s rifle season.

I was there ’93-’97. Ran into some HOSS mulies down around and west of corona de Tucson. I’m sure that’s all developed housing additions now but back the , my word the birds!

Thanks Tom I may have to try to swing that. I lived in Tucson for a few years while I was in the Air Force. Never javy hunted while I was there but did do a lot of bird hunting with the shot gun. Always wanted to go back.

Guys I’ve been doing a javy/hog hunt down south Texas for the past two years. It’s a great time and there are lots of animals to hunt including rabbits. As far as javy as table fare, this was the first year I killed one and I also took my buddies to eat. I deboned the front and back legs and ground the meat to make jerky, it was delicious. I also took the back straps and tender loins, wrapped them with bacon and smoked for 3 hours to an internal temperature or 160. I must say it was some of the best meat I’ve had! No gaminess or bad flavor at all.

I was skeptical after killing and cleaning mine that this would be a one time deal if the meat wasn’t good ( I always wanted a javy skull as a trophy)and that kept me from killing a second one. However I will now kill and eat as many as I can every year (2). Good stuff

Don’t get me started brotha. Horse riders now have rights to public land during deer season in Oklahoma ( gee I wonder which representative wants to ride his horse on public hunting lands). We lost bow only, walk in only access to about 3,500 acres of federal land because some rep wanted to be able to rifle hunt due to the number of big deer that were being taken ( let’s not talk about the thousands of state public land across the road literally, that has rifle and 4 wheeler access. I can go on and on but I won’t. The Oklahoma Bowhunter is mucho apathetic.

Some hard rock maples I use for hunting from Forrester Wood shafts.

This arrow has about an 8″ cap dip, cresting and about 1/4″ of reflective tape on the nock end.

                              Who should define Bowhunting?

I.e. Should it be the Bowhunters?

Should it be the legislative branches of your respective state or provinces? (That’s how we do it in Oklahoma, good bad and ugly)

Should it be the wildlife departments?

Or….should it be the lobbyist with the most $$$ that influence your bow seasons and weapons definitions?

Unfortunately, at least on Oklahoma, the last question is a reality, regardless of my opinion or beliefs.

Thanks! I have a 3″ parabolic chopper, I just take a pair of scissors and cut the back 1″ off. Work pretty good and I can get 3-4 cuts from a full length feather.

                                  2″x1/2″

Fly just as good as 3″x3/4″

675grain arrow and 29% Efoc. Don’t know what to do to hit the 30% mark. Took me a month to get this formula right! But shot it with my broad heads and they fly great….when I do my part and pull through the release and follow through.

Couldn’t have done it without your help Tradbow friends of FOC forem and of course thanks to Dr. Ashby as well. 14 days will be the true test of these “Pork choppas”
