I lost the desire to hunt in gun season a long time ago. I will hunt it but with my recurve. I’ve been fortunate to be on a roll for several years and have filled my tag during bow season… not this year though:cry:

The thing that really concerns me is I think I’m even starting to get disgusted with “bow” season these days. I think the main cause for my malaise is the bombardment of gadgets and X guns. All of the TV shows, hunting celebrities, and commercialism is degrading our pursuit.

It’s sickening. The number of “bow” hunters that tossed their compounds aside to embrace X guns is disgusting. And the compound shooters continue to welcome any new “improvement” that come down the pike.

Add in the October in-line season (here in Pa) and it just doesn’t seem like bow season anymore.

I’ve bow hunted for whitetails for 40 years and it has been my passion for over 30 years. Now I fear that I’m losing the passion.

It scares me. It really does:(

That is a very clever idea 💡

Thanks. Wish it was an idea that I could make a million off of:lol:

I have a few more but none of them will pay for my retirement and hunting bills8)

Next time I shoot a deer, I’ll film my deer loading device invention. Easy and cheap!

White wraps, 5″ feathers… 2 white, 1 blue, white nock. I don’t believe deer see my fletching.

I like the blue because it doesn’t blend in with any other colors in the woods. When I’m looking for an arrow, it’s amazing how often the blue feather is the 1st thing I spot.

in reply to: Tree Saddle #50883

I’ve had one for a few years now. I’m 60-40 on them. I like to hunt dawn till dusk and they can become a little uncomfortable (IMO) on an all day sit.

I shoot pretty well from one, except for shots on the right side of the tree (I shoot right handed). Shots on the left side or directly behind me are no problem.

I absolutely love a Tree Saddle for hanging stands. I own linesman’s harness & belt and have always used it for hanging stands but it seems like the belt is always in the way of the stand’s chain or straps. Using a Saddle puts it’s strap above the tree stand and completely out of the way. Plus I stay attached to the tree during the entire hanging process, especially when I step onto the stand…complete safety.

in reply to: kme sharpener #9043

I bought a Broadhead Pro sharpener from Alaska Bowhunting Supply last year. They come in both single and double bevel models.

              I like it.

I shoot 2 white and one blue. 5 inch. I’ll also say that a bright crown dip or wrap is a must. I use white. And also a white nock.

I see the white well during flight or when the arrow protrudes from a fleeing deer.

But it’s amazing, to me, how often that it’s the blue that I see first when searching for an arrow buried in grass of leaves.

                BTW I’m a newbie here.

I switched from compound to recurve in 1992 and haven’t looked back. I love this stuff:P
