in reply to: Montana Long Bow #39411
Congrats on your purchase, the guys that I have talked to shooting the Montana bows really like them. As far as arrow choices perhaps you need to decide on what kiknd of arrow material you want to shoot(wood, aluminum, carbon). I think the Montana bow is cut to center so in aluminum my guess would be a 2016 perhaps a 2018 if you left it longer and loaded the front. I am sure someone more knowledgeable than myself will chime in here.
Enjoy the bow!!!
in reply to: Vanilla Cover Scent tip #21985I have used the vanilla, I couldn’t say the results were either positive or negative on deer. I cant get past the feeling of smelling like a 6 foot ice cream cone.

in reply to: New bow, need help please #21979I’m with Duncan, for 60 dollars if the limbs are straight it would be tough to pass up.
in reply to: The trees are on fire… #21974Simply stunning makes a great time to be in the woods. Havent started changing hear yet, and I agree that looks like very grousey country.

in reply to: Extremely Hard Season So Far! #16663Sorry to hear the OHV traffic is that bad in your area. Seems like either they go where ever they want or the FS is cutting them new trails through more habitat daily.
Good Luck!in reply to: Just seemed fitting to hunt here with a Longbow! #16660LOL thats a good one. Pretty sure I’ve seen that sign before.

in reply to: What's your favorite bowhunting song? #12778My music choices change depending on the circumstances. On the way hunting its “The Call of the Wild” by Chris Ledoux. If im stuck in the bottom of a canyon alone with an elk down or stuck doing honey do’s instead of hunting its the “Gloom Despair and Agony” song from HEE HAW…LOL
in reply to: What spine? #17916Sorry for the double post apparently I need some more education in carbon arrows and computers.
Thank you for the replies I guess I should have mentioned that I wasn’t as concerned with the weight forward so much in the shaft design, as the total weight of the arrow itself. These shafts are 11.3gpi and I am used to how heavy shafts perform.
I will also admit that around the web there are several pics of thumbs with half an arrow sticking through them so I am tempted to lean to the stiffer side if I go carbon. sorry if I wasnt as clear as I could have been in the first post.
in reply to: whats everyone favorite BOW ? #13983Currently I am shooting a Black Widow PSA takedown, but there are so many out there that I havent had my hands on that I could be fickle and fall in love many times over.

in reply to: Bear blade and weapons discussion… #13975WOW who ever built the knife did a beautiful job. I can’t imagine having to fight off old uris with a knife. I think that if I were in that situation and the bear ran through a cloud of pepper spray I would have to adopt the skunk defence.(I am gonna smell very bad by the time he starts chewing on me…)

in reply to: help with antelope hunt #55813I am no expert on pronghorn I have only killed 2, but I have noticed that they are real creatures of habit. Using the same trails or crossings over and over. Use this to your advantage.
Oh and if using a montana decoy they act like a parachute in
30mph winds.Rogue
in reply to: Elk hunting tips #48816I will agree with Dave on this.(Not that I disagree often.) It seems that in my area elk are so call shy from the over use of calls that they are counter productive. I haven’t carried a call for 7 or 8 years now. Be stealthy, mind the wind and shoot straight.
