Bow season is well underway here in Alberta, I have seen pictures of quite a few elk taken so far, most seem to have come in silently to calls. Have heard from a few guys that have been calling to actively bugling bulls. I am stuck at work in another province so cannot partake…

Thanks. That was a couple years ago. She’s nine now, she loves hunting so I’m hoping that sticks. I got her a longbow last winter, we need to practice lots more, but hopefully by the time she’s 12 and can get a licence she’ll be good to go.

Good luck Ray! I can’t watch the video’s due to slow internet here at work, but nice looking country from what I can see. Good hunting!

I feel for ya! I injured my shoulder about 6 weeks ago and haven’t touched my bow since. It’s starting to feel better, but I don’t want to aggravate it so I’m going to wait until Sep to try shooting again.

Hope you heal up soon and get back to shooting!

I had a friend take a calf moose a couple years ago and had to wait 4 hrs until the cow would get far enough away from the calf for him to recover it. So I would say wait and make sure she’s gone because they can be very dangerous.

Great tag, not much better than calf moose to eat.

I see you’re a couple hours up the road from me. I gotta get to GP and meet a few of the trad guys up there sometime!

                                  Bloodless

I soak fresh morels in water first, just to get any bugs or grit out. Then I pat them dry with paper towel.

Dip the morels in beaten egg with a bit of milk or cream mixed in, then toss in a mixture of crushed ritz crackers or corn flakes seasoned with parmesan cheese and pepper and maybe some garlic powder or whatever spices you like, fry in a good portion of butter in a skillet on moderate heat until golden brow.

That’s how I do it anyways, I found the recipe online a few years ago and enjoy it.
