in reply to: EFOC arrow trajectory #55737Alex do you find you can get consistent at say 60 yards instinctively?
in reply to: EFOC arrow trajectory #15678I’m pulling around 50 lbs maybe a tad lower from a checkmate recurve with a 26″ draw length. My current arrow is 647 grains, just under 30% foc, and is 28.25″ long. I’m definetly in the market for a heavier bow which would help.
in reply to: The 2013 Season Bulletin Board #25873Took this small 4×4 at 4 yards. Complete pass through with a 750 grain grizzlystik Alaskan tipped with 200 grain kodiak giving an FOC of around 25%. Bow was a 57 lbs recurve. Harvested in northern Alberta. First morning out seen some cows headed down a cut line before they seen us. No bull with them but figured one would be along shortly being the middle of the rut. Maneuvered to a shooting position on their trail after they had gone by and 4 minutes latter this young guy showed up on the trail with his nose to the ground and his eyes rolled in the back of his head! He made me look good. After the shot he went 30 yards and fell dead within seconds. My hunting partner got within 30 yards of two different 5 x 5’s with no shot opportunities.

in reply to: Sitka spruce and EFOC, failed experiment #15790By hardwood splines do you mean footings?
in reply to: Sitka spruce and EFOC, failed experiment #15781Dave would you be so kind as to explain these hardwood splines to us who are not familiar with them and would like to be. Thanks
in reply to: Carbon arrow saw #43003Great advise on the file guys. Tried it and it works. What about a tubing cutter like you would use on aluminums? Tried that also and of you take your time it appears to do a pretty good job also. Appears you just touch it up with a file after. Any one tried that?
