I use the wetland boot and really like them. They are the warmest and most comfortable I’ve tried. They are light and easy to get on and off. I haven’t used them for spot and stalk but I do walk a long way in with my Ol’Man Climber and gear and haven’t had any problems. Can’t see how you can go wrong with Mucks!
in reply to: First EFOC Deer Down #43794After non-recovery of my first hit on a buck with the trad bow,(a little high in the kill zone) I’ve had to rethink my entire arrow setup. I’ve read much of the Doc’s studies and am convinced that low FOC(12.30%) was the major factor in not recovering my buck. Had I read the Doc’s studies before… I beleive my experience would be different. I’m shooting 50# with a 29″ draw and 31″ arrow and a 150 gr Woodsman. I’ll experiment by adding a 50 or 100 gr insert.Total arrow weight will be 535 gr or 585 gr. My calculations (estimated) show I should get close to or exceed 20% FOC. I know that arrow flight is really important and from what I read this should not be too much of an issue with a 5″ flecthing Any suggestions??? Learning everyday and appreciate any help.

The guy came in the middle of the day got the guns and jewelry and some othe stuff. What got me was the way he set my archery equipment to the side and never took any of it. It was neatly left standing in a corner. On the bright side of this is the fact that I still have my bows….thank God!
Thanks for all the thougths and prayers…my girls had a tough time this week. We’ve improved security and something good will come of this incident. As an update…. the Detective working this case called me last night and they had a suspect that they were planning to question. Seemed to think he may be the guy. Should know today. I’ll post when I hear anything. Planning on hunting this evening!!!
in reply to: Anyone own a Shakespeare? #33234I picked up a Super Necedha Model X32 last week. It’s it pretty good shape. This is the first Shakespeare Archery product I’ve ever come across. the number on it L410154R…what’s the story on this.
in reply to: Muck Boots? #12139Thanks guys…great information. Based on whats been said, I’ll probably go with a high qualilty low top boot and some good socks. I’ll spend most of the time on the ground and can move around if neccessary. This exchange of information is excellent!!!
in reply to: ARROW SELECTION #20935Johnny, I’m no expert and just started shooting traditional May of 08. I shoot 46′ @ 28″ and my carbons fly perfectly staight. I shoot Aerodynamics Taditonal Lites, arrow length is 30″ and with a 150gr field tip and broadhead they fly the same. In my limited experience this is the best combination I found. I’m not sure what the FOC is but I belieive it’s close to 15%. 3Rivers has the arrows and Im’ shooting their Woodsman Broadheads. Check it out. It may be a great combination for you.
Ralph,

Nope, won’t hold it against ya. 😉
I have to say that I was reluctant because of things I heard about it too. Frankly, I don’t like being preached at by Hollywood. It has its good points. It also has its bad points. All, in my opinion.
What’s new about this kind of message out of Hollywood….most movies have some type of “we’re the bad guys” message.
in reply to: Avatar (The Movie) and Longbows #9115Dave and R2 I love all the movies you mentioned. Jerimiah Johnson is my favorite of all time. Chris the longbows in Avatar are pretty awesome and the way they use them in warfare is powerful. You’ll like the movie!
in reply to: Avatar (The Movie) and Longbows #7992Great movie, wonder if the use of the longbows will spark interest???
in reply to: Wood Arrows???? #60627I make no claims for the label of traditonal archer. I just enjoy shooting the bow. Wood or carbon it’s fun.

in reply to: Wood Arrows???? #50663I will continue to shoot both too. However, there’s a real draw to the feel and look of the wood. It’s good to have both options…who knows where this will end up. It will be like most things for me….I have to try it.
in reply to: Wood Arrows???? #50655Thanks for the information. I did order some arrows from 3Rivers because Joe didn’t have the spine I needed. I’m shooting the wood and really like it. I really appreiciate all the help from you guys. The wood shoots great and flys very well. I’m sttarting to group fairly well at 15 yards. Fun to shoot the tradbow!!!
in reply to: Wood Arrows???? #22163Duncan, Great insight on the wood and carbon. I know I’ll try some cedar and probably continue to use carbon too. I have been using regular field tips and may go to a blunt…3 Rivers has one called “The Hammer” that has some excellent reviews. This is a journey with many new discoveries to be made.
in reply to: Wood Arrows???? #21082Thanks Duncan…I’ll check on the birch…will probably try the cedar, expect to break lots of arrows over the years. It’s good to be on this traditional joruney. Need lots of guidance right now.
