I take the “tall”, I’ve got the other two…………..:D
in reply to: Best Natural Cover Scents #58322While I wave not used a hole critter, I have used a dab of liquid trappers scent on the little nob on the top of my hat. With good results.
P.S. Don’t bring your hat in the house……Wife with sharp objects.
in reply to: Best Natural Cover Scents #57962I like to keep a dead skunk in my pack. You can find them along the side of the road quite often.:D
in reply to: Dwyer Longbows #44918Just got THE CALL from Dave its done. Pick up at Compton gathering in Louisville KY next weekend…..:D
in reply to: Light Weight Hunting Bows #38936My thought behind this, is to have a arguing point with the wheelies that you have to have a heavy bow to harvest a deer.
99% of the bow hunters around here shoot nothing but deer and think that the TV junk is gospel…. speed, long shots and mechanical junk…
I like to argue with them 😆
Just an oldfart who likes too stir the pot.. 😈
in reply to: Light Weight Hunting Bows #37756Just checked KY Game book ” no weight limit”.
I Was surprised.
Just talked with a bow hunter last week whose son shot 2 deer W/ 35#……”24″ draw = 23#”. one was a good size doe arrow hit the shoulder blade on the opposite side, feathers just showing. Saw photo of kill. Very interesting.
in reply to: Light Weight Hunting Bows #34294Just picket up a used Black Creek Banchee Hybred at the All South shoot in Alabama. 38# @28 62″.
Just go back from stump shooting, and I was very impressed.
Thinking about deer hunting with it??????
in reply to: Dwyer Longbows #33889Have a Endeavor ordered, 48-50 @28 58″ should be here any day. Palms are getting sweaty…..:D
in reply to: Micro- Flight #13948Got my 1966-67 copy of Archers Bible from Kittredge Bow Hut here.
At 28″– #6 = 45-50#, #7 = 50-60#, #8 = 60-75#,
#9 = 75-90# This is the target chart. (We always thought these charts were high.)
I have a #11 w/ a 5/16 fish arrow inside that I use on our bigger fish around here 😀
The green hunter shafts had standard BH adapters.
Doc. We didn’t have screw-in back then.
in reply to: Micro- Flight #13386Hey Doc how ya doing. These are the yellows too. The green were in hunting sizes. Yellow were a better quality shaft. They were sized from 00 to 12s
I have a couple 8s left that I hunted with back in the 60s that were rated for about 45# very tough arrow wish they still made them.
I have lots of grand kids that will get more use out of them.
in reply to: Bow tiller #31279Thanks Mates, I was mainly thinking about the tiller on a new bow I have ordered.
I am sure 3under will help my shooting.
in reply to: Pheasant hunt #23634I have found that I like 3 fletch left unburned, they are a tough bird. I have had several bounce off hits with blunts. I now use old 3 blade BHD with rounded points and unsharpened to protect the dogs.
in reply to: Single Bevel #60744Been thinking of using the old “standard BHD adaptors” as we used to call the non screw-in type. So that I can use a heaver head. I am shooting 45# R & D longbow.
I hunt whitetail mostly, bear and some hogs. To old and beat up for the high country.
Are BH adaptors made for small dia. carbons? Who?
What is the max BH wt. and total arrow wt. I should be trying to achieve? ????
Thanks
