in reply to: Can you twist a flemish string too many times? #44534
Chris,
Thanks, I’ve twisted & got my brace height around 7 1/2 inches. The bow shoots well. I’m learning to shoot instinctive & enjoying shooting more than ever. I’ll be out next month chasing Toms and Jakes.

in reply to: Can anyone identify this BEAR recurve? #35243Thanks to everyone for your contributions. You’re all a great bunch of fellow people on the traditional bow hunting journey. I hope our paths cross around some camp fires. Blessings and happy hunting, Dave >>>——–>
in reply to: Can anyone identify this BEAR recurve? #23797SnufforNot- I peeled the moleskin and found no markings. I’m surprised to find nothing!
Herb- What year is your takedown?
Thanks for sharing in my inquiry,
Davein reply to: New To Traditional-Bow Advice #21828I spent $135 and bought a used PSE with arrows, arm guard, glove, and some field tips/broadheads. After weeks of shooting foam my 1st arrow hit the fur and she’s now in my freezer. 50#s is plenty of bow. The day I shot her I hunted in the rain for 3 1/2 hours. I’d probably headed back to the truck if I had an $800 bow! Happy Hunting, Dave
in reply to: bow quiver #18588On quivers, How many arrows need one carry on a morning or evening hunt? Surely more than 2, but need one carry 6?
in reply to: BLOOD TRAILING BASICS #8055Gents,
That raises another question- What need the temperature be to have the back out and wait till morning option? Down here in the south, like when I shot my doe last week, it can be in the 80 ‘s (F). Hence, I felt finding her and getting her to a cool place was critical.
Thanks for the great mentorship.
Godspeed,
Dave
Camp Lejeune, NCin reply to: BLOOD TRAILING BASICS #62704Great post! Tuesday I shot an arrow at a whitetail for the 1st time. I let her alone for 1 hour and then began to follow her blood trail for 2 hours. The going was most challenging as most all of her bleeding was internal. I’m so thankful a friend and I found her! He’s a skilled tracker.
A comment/ question? Is it just me or are traditional flashlight bulbs/lights MUCH better than LED for spotting blood?
I found my friends Maglite a much better tool than either of the two LED headlamps I’d brought back from OIF.
Blessings,
Dave
