in reply to: My new baby #123340
Congratulations, Alex. I’m a grandpa now, and I love everyday I get to spend with my babies. Treasure these times.
in reply to: Hello, newbie here #61581Welcome, Jake. Lots of knowledge here, just not from me. Sounds like your bows are some of the best there are. Maybe these experts can help your shooting.

in reply to: Strange Things/Near Misses #14861My best friend and I got bows for Christmas. Mine was wood, 25 pounds, and he got a green solid fiberglass bow of 30 pounds. One day we were walking, with him in the lead, across a pasture, when he suddenly turned around, kind of half drew his bow, and shot the top of my leather hunting boot. I cracked him over the head with my bow, knocking him to his knees. He could never explain why he did that, just that it came over him to do it. I wish now that I’d had my Bob Lee takedown. I could have driven him into the ground like a tent peg with that riser.
in reply to: Lion Poacher? #57735Of course, I don’t know the whole, true story any more than anyone else who is reading about it. I did see a statement by Ivan Carter, a highly respected Professional Hunter in Africa. He said that what he learned was that there was no quota for lion in that area, so any lion kill would be poaching. Again, I don’t know the whole story, so I’ll keep my speculations to myself for now.
in reply to: AFTER CAMO WHAT ABOUT SENT LOOK ? #47799Grumpy, exactly how do you use the vinegar? Plus, I like the idea of cedar chips in the dryer. As a baby-sitting Grandpa, I’m often exposed to diapers, in all their stages.

in reply to: Lost Season, Maybe Worse #54029Never trust a one-handed, left-handed dog. They’re all up to no good.
in reply to: FS DISCOUNT ARCHERY #50653It’s been a few years since I ordered from them, but I always got good service. I remember ordering wood arrows, and the lady took the time to see what color fletching they had in stock, even though I told her I would be happy with any bright feathers. Just that extra bit of service that I so appreciate.

in reply to: Need Encouragement #8385I’ve let many deer walk away without shooting if I felt I couldn’t make a killing shot. I don’t regret a single one of them. It’s happened when I was shooting good, and not so good. Don’t ever worry because you did not make a lousy shot.
in reply to: WY Grizzly encounter, bear spray etc #62699Don Thomas, I appreciate your input on this subject. I’ve read your thoughts, and they certainly make sense. I seem to recall that your friend, Doug Borland, another experienced Alaska hunter, recommended a flare gun over bear spray. I may be wrong about this, but would appreciate your thoughts. I have trouble with the idea of a slow to reload flare gun, versus a cloud of spray. Your thoughts, please.
in reply to: Thunderchild T/D #14059My favorite technique is along the lines of, “Ray left 3 of his bows in my truck tonight. I oughta just keep them for a while, til he remembers.” This also confuses the amount of inventory, and opens up all kinds of avenues for future acquisitions. Also works with guns, flyrods, binoculars, and knives.
