Carbon Express Heritage arrows. Use 250’s, or if you like a heavier arrow(Like I do) use 350’s. I use 5.5 inch fletchings and a 125gr point or broadhead. I don’t trim them at all, since my draw is 30.5″. They fly fine and are super tough-I know, because I’ve bounced them off of many a tree and rock!! Nice & quiet too, no clicking, and they have a nice cedar color. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed if you try these.

in reply to: NRA pros and cons #31956

If all of us were responsible informed citizens, who really took the time to monitor what our elected reps were doing and knew more about that than who won last week’s ball games, if most of us didn’t vote for only one party or the other because we have let ourselves be convinced that only candidates from either of the 2 major parties can win, if we voted for who we agree with on most of the issues that we think are important, thereby filling congress with multiple parties who couldn’t agree on what to do unless someone flew a plane into a building, and paralyzing their systematic takeover of each of our individual liberties, I’m thinking we wouldn’t have ever needed an NRA.

Went to traditional gear in ’92. Have yet to kill my first whitetail with it. Also quit hunting with modern long guns then. I either use one of the flintlocks I built, or go with a revolver during the gun season. Hence, my descriptive name!!

I’ve found that the best way to hunt wise old does is at 70 plus yards with my flintlock!!!!

Give him one more deadline. If he misses it, post his name on this website and on stickbow’s leatherwall. I would think that others who might be shopping for a bow would thank you for the info. Custom bows cost alot, and for good reason- they’re supposed to last.

When I felt the weight of the first recurve I got, that’s what defined “traditional” for me. It was so light compared to the compound I was using, and it had no attachments! For me, “going traditional” meant simplifying my equipment & methods to help me get a better hunting experience by allowing me to really notice what was going on around me instead of fiddling with some gadget. I became so “anti-gadget” that it took 6 years before I finally put a quiver back on my bow!

The bottom line is you stay in one place for as long as YOU think you should. The only way to learn this is through your own experience. Not much of an answer, I know, but really, it’s all you need. Your own “style” of hunting will determine how long you stay in an area.

Sometime back in the 90’s, I remember the Black Widow catalog had pics & a story about Ken taking a nice bull elk with a 45# bow.
