OK – Just got a correction from my post. A dozen Ashby heads aren’t $220, they are $440! That brings the total to $2,200! Someone call EMS my heart is skipping beats!

I agree with…well…everybody. They all work well, especially if you’re staying in the U.S. Pick which ones YOU like, tune them well, keep them reasonably heavy, and keep the pointy end real sharp. Other than that, go hunt and enjoy.

Great pics. I really like that deep rick brown color of the bigger one. It’s neat when the trail cams gets pics of animals doing something other than just walking, like the little bears playing. Thanks for sharing.

I like the concept, it is just like the helmet cams for riding bike and motorcycles. The problem I would have is that I’m generally so worked up after I shoot an animal that it would just be a big blur. 😯
Cool video. Thanks for sharing. Can’t wait for the hunting footage.

OK – I have a Samick Stingray and a Don Dow Stik longbow so, yes, they are Stinger and Stik. Not the most original names granted, but each bow has its own personality, why not a name? I also name most of the arrow creations I make, even if the name is known only to me. 😀
A lot of the allure of traditional bowhunting is in the simplicity and unique qualities of the equipment we use. Why not give a name to that?

Croatoan – Outstanding. I’m still smiling. That’s quite the little dance they have going on there. And the Fatty’s, WOW, I’d like to see one like that come and eat at the berry patch I watch!

Another vote for adding a darker color pattern. See the way the natural light is helping to break up the solid color in your picture. If you add some color of your own, I think it will help even more. IMHO it doesn’t have to be fancy, just something to break up your outline a bit. Good luck this season.

Thanks for the posts guys. So far, here is my thoughts. Douglas fir or Sitka spruce. I want a finished weight of about 550gr. for my #53 R/D longbow. Taper the shaft and a 160gr. Stos to help a bit with FOC, 28.5″ to 29″ length. Which of the two woods would get me in this ballpark?

Thanks Steve. Great write-up. Pretty much tells me all I needed to know.

Wow, this post is ancient! – I came across this old post and read the responses. Not sure why I didn’t respond last year, but just to clear up the silencer issue, I use standard fur (beaver, mink, etc.) then take a cat whisker and cut it in half and use half at each end. Meaning, total I only have one cat whisker on the bow. 1/4 at each end of the fur.
IMHO – nothing silences like rubber, but I really like the looks of fur so this is what I have come up with. It works very well and I doubt I loose any more speed than just using fur by itself.
Also, thanks for the complements on the arrows.

George – My computer directed me straight to Photobucket and they worked just fine. Thanks for the post. I’m not really sure I’d call that the side yard, it’s more like the south forty.
