I like this set up.. are you shooting Tuffheads?
in reply to: Let's see your feathers #47497Release Release Release!!! Troy there is absolutely no subtitute for experience. Each time I shoot I can see a different flight then I realize that I always thought that I had a consistant anchor point. I can see that Maybe even an inch short or longer on my draw may affect the flight of a supposed tuned arrow.
Troy my setup is as follows: 30″ (340 Beman CamoHunter, 100grn insert and a 260 grn. Abowyer.)52@27
Since I still see slight stiff can I safely try a lighter spine?

Troy
This probably explains the callous on my 3rd finger. Im going back outside Troy.. Thanks again ill be back in a few with results
in reply to: Let's see your feathers #47427This is driving me Crazy!!!!I tuned these arrows as I read to do so. Bareshaft straight up and down till they cleaned up good. I get home and fletch and shoot canted like I normally shoot and (NOW THEY ARE SHOWING STIFF) tailing nock right in flight. They only shoot straight with no deviation when shot straight up and down. I’m trying to justify not tuning these arrow the exact way that I shoot them. (CANTED) I need help from the Elders on this one.

Fly just as good as 3″x3/4″
675grain arrow and 29% Efoc. Don’t know what to do to hit the 30% mark. Took me a month to get this formula right!
Just beautiful!!!

Are you snipping off the Aft end of the feathers to have a 90 degree angle or just letting them be? I really love the idea of 4 feather in the back. My release could use a little help.
in reply to: New String #35572This is just to weird for me. I set my brace height just perfect and barshafted some arrows today. They cleaned up nicely at 15yds leaving nice bullet holes. I came home and added my beaver balls to the strings and rechecked my brace height and fletched my arrows. Every single arrow (9) was shooting weak spined. I shot and shot again. I just cant figure out what happened. I will rest up for tonight and try again tomorrow.
in reply to: 40 yards, Kodiak Mag, elevated rest. #33038I need to keep sharpening my skills. Great shooting! That bow is in good hands..
in reply to: the on going talk about bareshaft tuning #30586I believe this topic was covered in Masters of the Barebow 2. It was something that was quite rare but was correctable. I will watch it again and get back to you with his answer or remedy to this. I’m sure there is something lacking.
in reply to: Bowlight for night hunting? #26697Ive run into the same problem with hunting with a headlamp. It is legal for hoghunting in Texas as well as for little critters and night fishing. Its looking like Im gonna have to take the leap and buy one. I dont think Ill be dissapointed.
in reply to: RattleSnake for my bow #45209Now Im confused. I finally have my skins stretched out and drying up good. I was reading through some threads here and came across some advice on removing scales from the snakeskin. I have not clue on how to do this and nor know why. I understand that tanned skins dont work well with glues or epoxies and neither to scales, apparently. i need help guys. What am i doing wrong?
in reply to: RattleSnake for my bow #35140Hey guys I just caught one 4 1/2 foot rattler tonight while working in the brush following some foot sign. One more to go guys. As soon as I get off of work Ill be working that rattler.
in reply to: RattleSnake for my bow #20722Steve and Troy, you guys make this sound easy. I wont head out for snakes today since we’ve been getting some much needed rain down here for the past week. I will definitely use this advice as a guide. Thanks guys as always I appreciate the advice. Guess Ill just fire up the grill and throw some Fajitas on the fire……
in reply to: How much bow and arrow for hogs? #20254Kingwouldbe, do you live in Texas? Man o man those are some sweet looking Swine. I’d love to get the chance to place my 681grain arrow into one of those. Hmmmmmmmm, it looks like there is no shortage of piggies in your neck of the woods. How about making some small vids on the penetration of your arrows or EFOC arrows shot right through the shield of these monsters at 10yds. If your pigs are not a perfect testing specimen for High FOC arrows I dont know what is. Truly awesome pics buddy. I tell you what buddy. I truly treasure the rabbits Im able to hunt as much as you do your pigs. Everything is private in Texas…………………..Again. Thanks for posting the pics
