Then there is this one:
That is the Tac15 upper mounted on the lower of the AR15
in reply to: Bow Season vs. Crossbows #49404As long as the Montana Bowhunters Association has a say in the matter, the regs will stay the same and that is NO Crossbows allowed in the Archery Only Season.
I for one, do not want to be walking, stalking the woods with someone out there that has a cocked and locked shoulder mounted bolt shooter.
PSE came out with the Tac15 that mounts to the lower of the AR15 format rifle, and this shoots bolts at a whopping 400 plus FPS with 1/4″ accuracy at 100 yards. This could pose deadly consquences for the bowhunter that is camo’d up and hiding, then moves.
I say let crossbows stay where they are, and that is in our general hunting season with the rifle shooters.

in reply to: Proper arrow length #47231This was just sent out this morning from TBM
in reply to: The one thing I discovered…. #46621LimbLover, now you went and did it with posting your blog information. It will give me something to read, and learn alot by.
Thanks
Jonin reply to: The one thing I discovered…. #46123LimbLover it is 100% all wood.
So this is a self bow, and not an English Longbow… my novis self is coming out here 😛
in reply to: The one thing I discovered…. #44749Steve I didn’t mean that I made the bow, I found it in the rough needing refinishing. I finished the bow, after some work on it. So I don’t know what wood or laminations that were used. I got it as an encourager, to see what I could do in obtaining another longbow.
This by no means has spoiled my desire to own a finely made longbow from a bower lime Bama Bows though. I will continue to play with this one, and will use your advice for a dryer day and heavier arrows to see if that will yield better results.
Thanks
Jonin reply to: Get off me! #44278Now that is just plain funny stuff right there.

That is why I want a custom longbow and not an off the shelf longbow from any shop. Now that the weather is much better, Lone Pine State Park is looking real good to go shoot at. We will talk later, but I don’t shoot at Spirit Quest any longer.
I will be placing an order with Bama Bows for a Hunter Model in the next week or so.
LimbLover wrote: Cottonwood…they really are. Nate’s bows are very unique and it is great to find someone still making a traditional D-style longbow that doesn’t have the pistol grip like so many of the new hybrids.
He’s making takedowns now too! Check them out. I’m all set for a third.
I just got an email back from Nate today, and I am stoked already and from day of order to done, it is not that long of a wait. My own longbow leaves a lot to be desired compared to Nate’s bows and the penetration that I saw in the video’s that are online to view.
Right now I just have to think about what poundage and woods I want used for my colors on the bow. I like the first one above with its color and handle wrap, BTW what poundage is that one as I’m thinking maybe a 50 or 55# bow that I want, as my Bear Kodiak is a 45# bow, but is a 45# bow enough bow? I am a total novis when picking one of these out, so some help is in order.
I have a recurve that shoots real well, so this is why I want a new custom longbow.
in reply to: "Wow, now THAT'S a VERY old bow!" #43627I was told that I’m shooting an old bow to by another bowman at the range with his new modern bow. I told him, “Yep and these old telephone poll arrows still deliver quite an effective message to.”
in reply to: Does this happen to you? Or am I the only one! #43624The nice thing is that I can wear my glasses and shoot traditional with no problem, but we all have our Howard Hill days, and then bam the arrows just seem to have a mind of their own 🙄
in reply to: Robin Hood #43617Now you went and done it….. Now I have to go to the theater and see this.
in reply to: carbon vs aluminum #43598MontanaFord, we are in the same town here as I just noticed from where you are from. I live in the Evergreen area, maybe see you at Flaming Arrow sometime.
in reply to: Arrow / broadhead penetration testing #42007Very informative topic here, glad I dropped in. Now to make some coffee, and cruise the board. 😛
in reply to: I'm getting a bow built for myself #40799Patrick, I like what I see on that link. Love the broadheads as they look like the Simmon’s Land Sharks. Now getting on about bows. I have been leaning towards a longbow, simply because that is what I started out with some 41 yrs ago, remember the old Ben Pearson glass bows?
So we will see, as I said I like to handle the bows and it is nice when a bower is close to home.
