I don’t carry an extra shooting glove.

I can shoot at my quarry bare handed if need be in warmer weather. In colder weather, I keep a pair of the wool liner gloves you can buy at any Army/Navy Store. Been wearing those for years and love them. Work fine shooting a bow too!

I carry my stringer and now I’ll be carrying a back up string because I just purchased my second string for my bow.

Not much needed for emergency’s trad bow hunting. One of the many appealing qualities that are associated with traditional archery.

Never eaten one.. I’d try it.. I guess…:D

I’ve only shot 2 coyotes. One was while deer hunting, and I called in my first yote predator hunting this past December.

        I didn’t eat either one..

I’d rather eat mountain lion than a yote… I can’t explain it, but a cat sounds more appealing than a canine.. Maybe because they’re “cleaner” animals… That’s all I can conjure up in my meager mind at the moment.

Wouldn’t mind eating bear, because they’re a omnivore. Even though the coyotes around here will eat persimmons and fruit just as much as fresh meat or rotten carrion…

My name is Tommy. I’m 34yrs old, a Georgia native, and been hunting something or another since I was 5yrs old.

I’ve been bowhunting in general for over 20yrs, but only traditional archery hunting since 2011. I absolutely love traditional archery!! My compound is collecting dust… I admit, I still hunt with my compound and firearms as well.

I’m a universal hunter and take a bit of pride knowing I can hunt with a multitude of weapons.

I’ve only killed 1 deer and a couple of armadillos with my recurve, but it’s been my go to weapon since 2011. I hunt with it more than anything else nowadays!

I’ve been married to my insanely beautiful wife for almost 9yrs,and we have two children. My son who is 4yrs old and my daughter who just turned 1.

My family and I run a small security business. We install residential and commercial intrusion, fire, and cctv systems.

This is a fantastic forum and I’m very happy I’ve found it.

Tons of great info on this site and I enjoy visiting it daily.:D

My two previous bows shoot at 50 and 56lbs and I’ve always shot 3555 gold tips with standard inserts and 170 and 190 gr heads. They’ve shot great from both.

My new bow claims to shoot 57lbs but it is backed with skins and I bet it shoots a little over 60lbs at my draw length.

I tried to shoot my 3555s with 170 heads and they flew everywhere. I went to a 90gr head and they flew pretty good but not perfect. Obviously too weak a spine.

I know I have to go to a 5575 arrow and will still be shooting 170 and 190 heads, but do you think I should be shooting 100 gr inserts instead of 11 gr inserts?

Any help would be appreciated as I’ve only shot 3555s.

            Check this link out Sean.

It really helped me get my bow tuned when I first got it.

That’s the problem right there… It wasn’t too long ago, 10-11yrs, we were paying $1.30 or so…………… I refuse to say that the prices we’re paying over here are “good”…. I definitely feel for you ausjim………….. That’s plum crazy what you’re paying!!!!!!!!

Our govt is full of a bunch of idiots who won’t tap into the natural resources we have right here……………..

Ok….. I’m going to stop this rant now……….. Politics make me a angry individual…………………

Anyways…… Feel your pain Etter… I’m going tomorrow to scout out some public turkey ground. But… It’s only 20 minutes from the house…

I’m not a pro by any means…. I’ve only shot 1 deer OTG with archery equipment. And it wasn’t trad equipment….

If I were to target whitetails OTG, these are a few things I’d pay attention to.

The wind. Absolutely critical if you ask me. Keep the wind in your face at all times.

If I wanted to stalk, I’d only do it in a light rain, or shortly after it had stopped raining. Trying to approach whitetails in very dry conditions here in the southeastern woods is well… challenging to say the least! Lol!

I would do most of my OTG hunting on funnels leading to, from, or right on top of food sources. I’d either construct a natural blind well in advance of my hunt date or make sure my background completely eliminates my outline.

And back to the wind.. play the wind right all the time!

I was sort of vague in my first post! I do love to fish, but I should have stated, that fishing doesn’t start till turkey season has closed!! I absolutely love to turkey hunt!!! I also enjoy small game hunting as well!

I don’t brew beer, but love to drink it! All types, as long as it’s semi cold to frigid.:D

I also have piddled around and built a couple of home brew trail cams, but most of my time around my house keeping the yard and landscaping up and helping the wife with our two children, my son who’s about to turn 5, and my baby girl who will be 1 tomorrow.

And of course, shooting my bows off the back porch. My house sits in a 3 acre field. There are some trees now that I have planted, but I’ve got a fantastic archery range!:D

I love to fish too! I really enjoy inshore saltwater fishing. Hard to beat reeling in redfish, trout, flounder, etc! I also enjoy largemouth bass fishing and lineside fishing!

I would love to fish up north for smallies, walleyes, and northern pike one of these days!

The only time I wear a arm guard is when I’m hunting in cold weather. Keeps my extra clothing out of the way.

I’ve got private property to hunt wild pigs but no time to get out and chase them at the moment…. Having a 4yr old boy and a 11 month old daughter can do that to a fella…lol! I’m about to come unglued! Ready to do some slip hunting with the recurve before turkey season opens.
