Very Cool AusJim… I note that all humans used jewelry/personal adornment through time…
I’ve owned some ancient Anasazi shell and bone necklaces, bracelets, and pendants, the shells come from the Sea of Cortez. Interesting that while the Anasazi lived in Northern Arizona where copper, gold, silver and turquoise were in supply, the women wanted shells from 1000miles away… Kinda like today, always a chore to keep the womenfolk happy… Hehehe
in reply to: Longbow Doe #19845Congrats!!!. Dig the leafy head-gear also…
Great find!!!
I always take care to clean-up blood, and position the animal for the best photo. To show alittle what, where and how I got that critter with the respect and honor it deserves.
The most horrible photos to me are of the ‘hunter” straddling an animal…
I dont normaly take pics of the blood trail, but the feeling of walking up on a blood trail is deep and undenyable. A feeling of accomplishment, a goal reached, a feeding of a primal instinct.
( As kids (and adults), we would use blood to mark the face of someones first Deer, a simple line on their forehead and a little talk of what it means for them to have “joined” a brotherhood of hunters…)
in reply to: Single Bevel, Left or Right??? #10395Hehehe Grumpy… That quote is from my boot camp DI, well the first part anyway and his delivery was at a level that made your insides shake…
in reply to: A wife's perspective #10300Nice story… My Gf is an NYC woman, shopping?? fancy eats?? she’s in. Hunting, hiking???, ” Your life insurance up-to-date?? Have fun baby…” Gf loves to eat what I bring home, she just doesnt want to hear the stories, but gives me the space to go off for weeks at a time and I have places like here to share my adventures…
I set-up a wireless caller about 30yards away with a deer tail tied to a branch, using fawn distress sounds. I,ve been in ona few Lions kills, never taken one myself, calling is the hardest way to get a Mountain Lion, and to do it with a recurve??? It will be even sweeter when I do it…
in reply to: Bison Gear Packs #8576Yeah Jim, kinda like an ‘H” rig but with a hunters features in mind, silent material, a lot easyer to shoot a bow with this style then a normal backpack…
I might have to look into these…
in reply to: Bison Gear Packs #8160I like the open camo design and it being made of wool… I used something in that style when I hunted the Adirondaks in NY, very comfortable and they hold a lot of gear.. To small for me though anymore, optics, first aid, side arm, etc. I have a couple of Badlands, Diablo and the super day pack, I may need them to carry a Coues deer or Lion off the MT…( I de-bone on site, wrap meat in a shamag, head/hide rolled-up and tied to outside)
in reply to: Some Game recipes… #64108Cut into small pieces, gently simmer in seasoned water,(salt, pepper, ancho chili powder, etc), remove and make a marsala sauce and add heart. Serve over egg noddles.
Enjoy…
in reply to: Single Bevel, Left or Right??? #63203Perfect Jim!!! I have left-wings…
Cheers Mate!!!
in reply to: Single Bevel, Left or Right??? #62918Sorry for the confusion… Since the fletching has that slight curve to the right looking from nock end toward point, I’m guessing they would spin counter-clockwise???… So Left bevel???
in reply to: Single Bevel, Left or Right??? #62912My regular ‘puter is shutting down on me so I can’t post photos right now… NEVER use small hammer and a large screwdriver to “work”on your laptop… Jehehe
in reply to: Single Bevel, Left or Right??? #62399Synthetic feathers, the fletching leans slightly to the right looking from the nock end, mounted straight on the arrow shaft with no helix or twist…
