Hi All!
We are in the process of upgrading the site. It will take me a bit to figure out all the new stuff, so bear with me. Things may look a bit funny until all the changes go through.
This update comes with some very cool changes: the site will look better on a mobile device; you’ll be able to put more than one photo in a classified ad; and the green menu system up top with change a bit with some drop down menus. I’m not sure what else. This might be a fun adventure of discovery.
After a few days, if something doesn’t look right or work right, please email me. Suggestions are welcome, complaints are not. 😆
Oh, I almost forgot! Happy Anniversary to Us! This month marks seven years since we launched this website. Thanks for all the good times!
XOXO,
Mom

7 years! Congrats! Keep up the good work. I was flipping through some of the popular hunting magazines (the usuals found in a waiting room), and I’m really thankful TBM exists. Needless to say, I was disgusted with the approach to hunting these other publications profess. And the website allows me to interact with tons of like minded hunters.

No moss grows on our Webmom! Thank you for all of your work to keep this great site running smoothly. Happy anniversary! Best, david

Thanks, Mom!

Your efforts are well worth it and much appreciated! Thanks for your investment.

Thanks for all the kind words. As you guys know, I love my job!
The upgrade went pretty smoothly, and you’re probably noticing some minor changes in the forum. I will highlight some of the features:
‘”
- n”.self::process_list_items(“‘.str_replace(‘
‘, ”, ‘If you had a website listed below your posts, it is now shown as “Website: Link” under your avatar picture.
The button for a Private Message is now also under the avatar.
If anyone knows what the “Link” button under the comment does, please share. 😆
At the bottom of each thread you can select to receive a Daily Digest of all the comments posted on that thread for each day. It’s under Subscription Options.
The menu in the green bar above now has drop down options so it is easier to find your way around the site.
Tradbow.com is now mobile-friendly. Some of the pages still look like the main site, but it is much easier to maneuver through the top features.
I’m working on increasing the file size for photo uploads.
‘).'”).”n
“‘
And…for some reason the rest of my message changes font sizes. Whatever! Email or PM me if you have any trouble with the changes.

A feature that seems to have gone away is that of hovering the mouse over the thread title and getting a look at the first few lines.
I liked this feature as it saved me from opening threads I may not be interested in.
-
Overall, it’s very similar. One difference on my iphone is that the most recent post aspect on the right is missing, but it’s there on my computer. Thank you! david

I’ll submit a support ticket to see if we can get this back.

I have added a link for Recent Forum posts under the Campfire Forums category. Thanks for the suggestion.

Thank you for working hard to keep us up and running! David

The folks at MemberGate fixed that for us. Thanks for bringing it up, Steve.

Thanks for fixing it! Now can you fix my bad hunting luck of late?

Loving the mobile friendly site!!!!
Thanks,

I’ll put in a “support request” for ya! Keep trying.
I noticed the preview still doesn’t work when you hover over the latest post. I’ll see if we can get that back, too.

While we’re on the subject of upgrades / changes…
At the bottom of the “post reply” window are the “Subscribe to Thread” and “Send Email” things I always have to set to No. Could they be defaulted to “No” so I don’t have to do that every time I post?
Thanks.

Membergate tells me they can’t set the Subscribe to Thread default to No, but they can change the Send Email setting from yes to no. So, you would subscribe to the thread but it wouldn’t send you any emails. Any feedback on this workaround?
Does anyone else have a problem if we switch the Send Email setting. In essence, if you really want to get an email when someone posts in a thread, you’d have to click Yes in Send Email. Does that make sense?

Robin,
First off, great job with the website. I’m sure it can’t be easy. And you’ll hear more about what’s wrong than what’s right.
Here’s the only issue I have with the new website. Previously, when I went to the campfire forums and opened up one of the main forums (campfire forum, friends of FOC, etc…) I could see what topics have new posts. Then I could click on the user who made the last post to the topic. Then I would be directed to the last post for that thread. Now, when I click on the last post it just takes me to the top of the thread. Does that make sense? So now I have to scroll down through all the posts I’ve read instead of being immediately directed to the most recent post.
I know, it’s just lazy on my part to not want to scroll down. But I was used to the old way and I liked it.

Hey Preston,
I get what you’re saying. And I like that feature too. It works correctly for me, going to the last post when I click the last poster. First, are you on a computer or mobile device? Have you tried to clear the cache in your browser to see if that fixes it? If it doesn’t, email me with details such as which device, which browser, PC or Mac, etc.
For Everyone: I’m okay with hearing what’s wrong. Generally, the problems mentioned have been easy to fix. 😀 I still haven’t gotten any response on the switch to “Send Email? to No” issue. Do any of you have an opinion either way? I’m leaning toward changing it unless I hear different from you guys.

Ptaylor wrote: Robin,
I am on a computer. I have not tried clearing my caches. I kind of like them because my computer remembers things I forget :D, but I’ll try it and let you know if it works.
Clearing the cache won’t “forget” things like passwords. It just makes the browser completely load the page instead of loading it from “memory”.

Robin, on the computer it now works like it did with the newest post on the right. Not so on the iphone. I am lazy, too, in that I liked the way it automatically went to the last post. I guess since I’m not using my right thumb to shoot I might as well use it to scroll! Thanks! Dwc
Ps. I love the forum menu at the bottom now.
-
On the iPhone, tap the green menu bar next to our banner, then tap Campfire Forums. It should expand to show two new menu items, Go to the Campfire Forums and Recent Posts.
I’ll look to see if going to the last post is a setting I can change. I think that makes more sense. Could you imagine trying to look at “What ya got going?” 😯
I’m glad you are enjoying it for the most part. It’s always a give and take on some of this stuff.
-
I sure am enjoying this site. thanks! david

Update:
On the mobile version of the forums, you will now see a link to the Last Post in each thread. It won’t give you a preview popup (that’s not an option in the mobile version) but at least you don’t have to start at the beginning and scroll. I hope your thumb is okay, David. 😆
I’m trying to get that Last Post preview popup working on the desktop version again. I’ll let you know when it’s fixed. The support guy is great, but he’s crazy busy with several other sites. Thanks for your patience.

As my grandson, Jameson, would say…Y’elcome!

I hate to be a whiner but….
I use an apple laptop to play on the internet, so I don’t know if that has something to do with it but….
When my mouse goes over the menu’s, they go crazy and open and close 3, 4, 5, 6 times before stopping. I have to be real careful when trying to get my mouse to the specific menu I want to avoid opening the others and having to wait for them to finish their yo-yo routine…
Any way to fix that?

I noticed that as soon as we switched to the drop down menus. I’ll ask support if there is any way to stop that, but I have learned to come down from the top or up from the bottom to exactly the menu heading I want. It really goes crazy when you scroll “through” the headings. Thanks for bringing it up, I’ll see what (if anything) they can do.

Thanks!
