Lots of folks have been asking me, “How are Larry and Belinda doing?” I can tell you, they haven’t lost the fight! Here is the latest update that Larry sent out last night. Thank you all for the continued prayers for both of them.
-
Dear Larry and Belinda,
Lots of Love and support from the Bugnons! We are pulling for you!!!
Alex

I’ve got some folks up here rooting for Larry instead of the Seahawks! That’s not all that easy this year. A lot of folks want a win on this one. They are trying to come up with a number for you Larry. I thought 24 was good, but I’m told that is already taken.
-
-
Right on, Jim – glad to see it arrived!
-
Thanks for all of the support. We are headed to Houston on the 16th for a consultation. Hopefully with a doctor that has no fear and little hands. Then sometime after this second round of chemo we will be headed to surgery and then onto the Snake for a little catfishing using the Bastard as bait!
As far as a number, I’m a lineman never wore a number under 50 in my life.
As for my condition at present we are continually fighting the Bastard, walking two miles a day, and the Doctor said I can resume shooting. I didn’t tell him that I had already tried shooting last week, with no pain.
Thanks again for all your support and prayers and I hope all of you have a Merry Christmas.
-
Merry Christmas, Larry! You are such an inspiration!

The latest update:

“The good part of this treatment is that The Bastard is laying on his pancreatic beach soaking up rays while pole dancing on my portal vein. Little does he know we are frying his ass! No SPF50 for that bastard!”
Quote worthy.

Wow! just read the latest update! Go Larry!!

Thanks for the well wishes. I’m spending the next few weeks getting stronger, eating lots of protein and working out. That includes shooting my bow! Hope to go into surgery as strong as possible, then recovery will be that much shorter.

Sometimes in the thick of the battle it appears that you are about to lose—attack, you really have nothing but victory at the end. And the end can be fleeting as we all know.
Hang tough my friend–take a walk in the woods and give Belinda a hug.

Keep giving Belinda hugs, too.

Robin, thanks for posting this. It’s a good read.
Larry, I wish you the best, all the best. I admire you in your fight and your spirit to make it all count. I hope you get a bear to add another smile.
Thank you for your writings. It’s important for me and probably the rest of us to understand the process and to feel another person’s trial. best, david

LARRY you and Belinda are amazing! Your attitude, sense of humor, and the prayers that your friends are sending will sustain you through these hard times
You are an inspiration to others………THANKS

Thanks for all the prayers and positive thoughts. Rebaited tonight, bear is hitting it hard!
Chemo tomorrow morning and hopefully a bear for the wall, and meat for the freezer this weekend. It’s good to be back in the field after missing last fall. I think the bastard has taken to this bowhunting, he has been very quiet!

Hi Larry, with yew sap running through your veins this makes you THE traditional bowhunter, a modern greenman.
Look forward to an update on the bear hunting.

That is properly inspiring stuff.

Larry,
Good luck in your Hunting! For both the Bear and the Bastard.

Keep him at bay Larry. There was a news story this week that the Mayo Clinic had success curing a cancer patient with a mega dose of the measles virus. The treatment is experimental. They going to start clinical trials to see if they get more positive results. http://www.cnn.com/2014/05/15/health/measles-cancer-remission/ Buy the way good luck bear hunting:D

We have never met Larry but through Tradbow, I feel like I know you. I lost my cousin and friend last Oct to the lung bastard. You are an inspiration and a great example for us all to follow. I will be praying or you and I hope you get that bear.
-
Here’s the latest on Larry’s battle with The Bastard.
-
Be blessed Larry and your family also. All of us are sending prayers for you and yours.
Sorry about your dog, know how you feel. I thought I was gonna lose my girl buddy of 12 years but we got her infection stopped. Not a challenge like yours but it still makes one’s heart bleed.
God Bless!!’

Larry,Belinda and Family I know it feels like things are spinning out of control and crashing down around you….All things you cannot control……The main thing is you are still in the fight and battling the “Bastard”.
You guys are in our thoughts and prayers every day.

Larry – what an insult, a kidney stone on top of it all! I’ll offer this about digestive regulation…my Mother is up there in years now and had back surgery. So, the flora in her gut got tomahawked by the antibiotics. My brother, hearing this says “well, all you have to do now is eat a dead rat and you’ll be all set”. That was a gem and if it can give you a grin, that’s good meds too.
-
Just read “Ambushed” and am sorry to hear of the Bastard’s extra stubbornness. As I gather with family this weekend I will not be able to eat or drink without thinking and praying for Larry and his family. Sending prayers for Larry.
-
Larry and Family,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you this weekend and
Every day. We will be praying for that miracle.

Larry, Belinda & Family,
I don’t find myself in prayer often either, but here’s an opportunity for some. I wish you all the best. I am also in appreciative amazement that you are able to document and share your journey with us. It does make me feel like family. As we say to our children when they head off to school for the day, “you are in my heart.”
I wish your miracle finds you soon. peace, david
-
You are in my thoughts today, Larry. Thank you for all you’ve done – with this publication, with promoting traditional bowhunting and with Backcountry Hunters and Anglers. Please know that you have left a big impact on many of us, and keep fighting.

Prayers and thoughts to Belinda and family. Larry good luck on the journey…thanks for the inspiration and one of the greatest showings of strength I have witnessed!
-
Well that is a true bummer. I haven’t posted on this thread but I have been reading Larry’s updates and hoping for the best. I never met Larry but have surly benefited from his commitment to traditional archery, this magazine, and hunting.
In hopes of making some small payback to Larry, I will give my next deer to a hungry family in his name.
Thanks Larry for all you did. You lived a strong life. Salute!
-
Oh no. We all knew the prognosis wasn’t good but I prayed more for this great man than I’ve ever prayed any other person in my life. Like everyone else I had been hoping against hope for a miracle.
I would like to offer my sincerest and most heart felt condolences to Belinda, Blake, and the rest of your family, as well as to anyone else whose life was so enriched by having the good fortune to have known this fine man. Our friend was a truly exceptional person. I honestly believe that to say Larry was 1 in a million is no exaggeration. You will be sorely missed my friend, but I know that in time, remembrances of you and our friendship will bring a warm smile to my heart. God speed sir. Till we meet again,
Ron
1st Corinthians 15:54-55 “But when this perishable will have put on the imperishable, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then will come about the saying that is written, “DEATH IS SWALLOWED UP in victory. “O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR VICTORY? O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR STING”?

Larry fought the long battle to survive the cancer which he called the “Bastard”. His tenacity and desire to fight the” Bastard”, even under diminishing odds for survival , is a lesson from which we all can learn.
Cancer affects not just the individual. but the spouse as caregiver .Belinda fought the battle right along side Larry……Prayers to you Belinda and Larry’s family.
He will be missed!

The man I called a friend will be remembered for years.

Since day one of the original announcement of the Battle and the Bastard, I have carried Larry, Belinda, and family with me. Daily prayers, conversations ‘with them’ in the woods, and anguish for their battles.
Still – every day I pray for them, and now Larry has moved on – to a new place, one where he can be rid of the Bastard.
Belinda, Blake and the entire family and circle of friends, we share you loss, and we’re here for you as we say goodbye to a man we loved.

I did not know Larry personally, but I am thankful for the contributions that he made to our way of life. My prayers, thoughts and condolences go out to his family and friends.

Having known Larry thru his association with us here in Montana, We have lost a great voice for the traditional bowhunters. Our condolences to his family, and his earthly fight is now over, and his peace is now one with our Maker. Those of us left must continue the struggle to keep this precious gift going..traditional bows and hunting, as a legacy to what Larry has stood for all these years.
