I received a letter from one of our readers who is need of a certain Bear bow, and since he is “freedom impaired” (in prison) I am relegated to helping him find the bow similar to his father’s.
It is a Bear Grizzly with the words “Bear Glass Products” and “Grizzly” on the belly along with

1953″It is a 58″ at 45″ draw, and the original serial number was: 7R9614 and was stolen. This fellow is looking to find a bow close to this serial number and with the same particulars(I know, pretty damn hard).
This is a personal quest that I seem to have been bestowed, and I am honoring this request for personal reasons. Any help, ideas, or contact info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,T.J. Conrads

Checking on “the bay” on one TJ that dont have the serial number and is 50lbs but….
Several 1967 Bear Grizzlys around and 45lbs was pretty common then.

TJ, This would be a 1967 Grizzly with a solid afican bubinga riser. Not a real tuff bow and poundage to find. Now the close serial # could present another problem. You could post a wanted ad on Trad gang and I”m sure one would pop up.Gary McWilliams

Steve & Gary:
Thanks for the info. The unfortunate part about all this, and with eBay especially, is that I may end up buying something he doesn’t want. It would be best to find a seller I can work with. Maybe contacting the eBay seller might work. Tough job working with someone in the pen!
Maybe I’ll just bite the bullet, get close, and hope I do right for the guy.
Now, back to the spraying of the log home. Robin and I have three days of hell in front of us!
T.J.
