Well I finally killed my first pig. Went on a family vacation to Hawaii to visit relatives and brought my bow along. Of course, I din’t get to hunt as much as I would have liked to.

I killed this polynesian boar the 2nd day. Shot him with the old EFOC arrow and he only went maybe 15 yds.

I was a little disappointed with the amount of meat I got off it. I would describe this pig as a walking stomach. But it was a lot of fun!

I saw many goat and sheep, and a few days later had a really close encounter with a big billy. I keep kicking myself for not taking the shot. There was a branch in the way. But the more I think about it, the more I think I could have made the shot. Oh well…

      Nice cutters on him

Another place I would like to hunt someday.

Been there a few times but never hunted it.

Sounds like a great time. Congrats on the boar. You’re fortunate to travel and hunt. It’s great that you can take advantage of that and enjoy it. All the best, dwc

Good job Steve! What bow did you use? Is that a take down? Sounds like a great Hawaiian vacation.

Paleoman – we had a luau with relatives and friends and ate most of the thing up! Finished up with marshmallows around the campfire for the kids (and more beer for me 😀 ). We got 2 more big meals out of it after the luau. That’s enough pork for me for a while…

Duncan – yes, it’s the bear takedown I bought a couple years ago that delaminated and whacked me on the head. It is now equipped with Rose Oak Custom limbs and is behaving better. I bought a suitcase that holds the bow, my arrows, and all my gear. And so I can travel incognito…

Steve cool looking pig how was the weather for the hunt? When I went to Kauai in Aug. it was so hot I could not think about hunting in the jungle.

Down by the ocean it was hot. But the higher you go, the colder it got. The top of the mountain has snow on it most of the year. It didn’t get out of the 50’s at the altitude I was hunting.

That seems to be the way with a lot of pigs. They’re all guts!
