        Latest from Backcountry College. Not that you’d need it in the western states right now. But it might come in handy later on. For those interested, I make the handles for my ferro rods from this stuff. Makes for handy fire starter.

            It is as good as advertized. I have seen that stuff where it has been laying the back of a truck in the rain just shake the excess water off and light it up.

              We use birch bark and pinecones. Pine cones don’t work if soaked, but the birch bark, you can just shake the water off, and burns like lighter fuel.
