Backstop question ???

Does anyone here in the assembled masses have any insight as to using Horse Stall Mats for backstops behind 3D targets ???  I’ve been using laminated cardboard suspended from a frame up ’til now. It works …… until it doesn’t. Wind & rain & our unrelenting sun take a toll on cardboard so I’m thinking that a 4×6 mat might be the way to go.

They work.  I built one this summer using a mat, some 2x4s and sawhorse brackets. Supposed to be portable but the mat is pretty heavy. Very happy with it. Buckhorn Hill on YouTube is the one I copied.

Been there, done that four times for backyard ranges (not always with 3D targets). It’s a two person job to hang one unless your neighbors don’t object to some blue air (I’ve done that both ways, twice). Nothing equals the utility of the horse stall mat. Even the deer approve of the cover it affords here at the Kenwood Deer Sanctuary:

I use a pair of 2x4s bolted along the upper edge to clamp the mat before hanging. This greatly reduces the likelihood of tearing out the holes with the passage of time.
