Went to a gun show in Willcox today and scored on a 50# Howatt ‘The Stick’ longbow in almost unused condition for only $175

Really windy outside so my first shots have been in the shop at 15 yards.  So far, it shows promise !!!!

Ok …………… Replaced the material on the shelf with a leather side plate and loop Velcro on the shelf.  Lost the endless loop string and made a Flemish Twist one  with a slightly lower brace height.

Truly a sweet shooting stick !!!!

If there’s one last piece of advice that I can give while we’re still on-line is that longbows and Flemish Twist strings belong together.  Nothing against endless loop strings; I’ve made about a mile of them for recurves & compounds. It just seems though, that the Twist string softens the shot reverb thru the limbs on a longbow.

Now ……………. The coyotes are howling and I must go into the desert.

All the strings I’ve ever made are Flemish twist and I agree they belong on a longbow and longbows are all I’ve ever made.

If you score on a coyote post a hero picture for us.

              The calling has been good,

Sadly, responses ………… not so much. Favorite proven areas that now have little to no sign of sightings of the little beasties that coyotes like to eat.

Hopefully, out long drought is over and we’re getting rain again.
