        I received this question today and I’m hoping some of you can help:

        I was wondering if anyone out there might have installed something on their Samick Sage recurve handle. I tried a rubber roll up cover that works on a long bow. The handle on the recurve is too large to get it to roll up on the recurve. I would like to cover the handle w/something and don’t know what might work.

          I use a standard bicycle inner tube from WalMart. You can get them in varying widths. Cut it to proper length, turn it inside out, and roll it up bottom limb, just like the commercially sold rubber grips. Use a wider mountain bike tube for recurve grip, and a narrow street bike tube for a longbow.

          You can buy a performance tube that is thicker to provide more cushion to your hand. These you typically have to go to a bike store.

                A wrap on grip might be easier than a pull on grip for a take down recurve. For example: http://www.3riversarchery.com/Bow+Grip+Skin_i5604_baseitem.html

                There are some leather ones too at 3Rivers.

                Alternatively, you can go to a store that sells racquetball rackets and/or tennis rackets and get the wrap on grip intended for rackets.

                    Hands down, the best thing I’ve found is Tourna Grip. It’s a thin tennis racket tape that is very inexpensive, available at pretty much every sporting goods sotre, and last a long time. The bad thing? It only comes in one color. The good thing? It works extremely well.

                      Two suggestions:

                      I have used a stair anti-slip treads that are a gray color. hard rubber with a rough surface for a grip on tools. Not much cushioning, but a really good grip.

                      You could also use STRETCH & SEAL. Thin, some cushioning, and clear.

                      Both at hardware stores.
