Had a request from Doc Nock to build a set of longbow limbs for an old recurve riser he had. It has been a tough challenge to get everything to fit when working with a completed riser. He wanted it to be 60″ n2n and 50# at 29″ draw. I spent a lot of time working with this limb design using Supertiller (thanks Alan!) before I started building the limbs.
Here’s what the riser looked like when I got it.
Here’s how it turned out. I had to narrow the limb pads from 1 3/4″ to 1 1/8″ but it didn’t seem to ruin the line of the riser.
It ended up at 50# @ 29″ and 60″ n2n. This project helped keep me motivated during the cancer treatments and has meant a lot to me.

The veneer is ash olive burl. Here’s a pic of the sheet that I got from the http://www.theveneerstore.com/
The sheet was rough and had to be sanded down then glued to a thin lam of actionboo so the face side could be sanded smooth. These veneers are sheared off a large block of wood so they aren’t smooth like what you get from Kenny McKensie. Wild looking wood though.
