This is a real simple belt mounted bow holder made with a length of cord, three overhand knots and a button made of wood, antler, bone or whatever. It may be useful for glassing while hunting rough terrain or still hunting where the bow can be kept within easy reach to prevent damage and minimize movement. Could also be used to keep hands free while waiting during 3D shoots. A longbow with straight or locator grip can be held by the bowstring.
The one shown is made from a 34″ length of cord and a wood button 1.5″ long.
Tie an overhand knot at the end of cord and another overhand knot at about 15″ from first knot inserting the tag end knot through the second one before tightening.
Tie another overhand knot using the loop formed above leaving about an inch loop at the end for the button and about a 3″ loop for the belt.
Sewing the cord to attach the button rather than using a knot leaves it more streamlined to easily insert and remove it from the smaller retaining loop.
A belt mounted bow holder like this is also great to hold a bow when bowfishing by wading the shoreline. When both hands are needed to remove a fish from the arrow, what to do with your bow while standing in water up to your knees can be a problem.
