I second the cast iron skillet!
I made up those bacon cheddar deer burgers at trout camp this year on a cast iron skillet on our camp fire! They were cooked to perfection! A big hit!8)
in reply to: Grilling Game Meat #14004I love grilled venison!
I marrinated it beer overnight, then salt and pepper. Turn at 4 min, butter. Let it go another 4 min…then eat! It comes out med.
Burgers are great too! Dice up some good bacon and mix it in the venison with a little aged shreaded chedar. Stay super moist and jucy!8)
in reply to: Sunday Morning buck #54351Good article!
What it’s all about.
in reply to: What ya got goin? #49471dwc, I wish I could go tho ETAR, but family vacation and work are prohibiting it yet again. I will get there one of these years.I will do Pine Hill this year. Also a nice trad event.
I don’t know about the outhouse, but I could go with no computer. I am slowly getting rid of material things I do not need. Although, some things are nice to have and I use em…:?
I do have a very open mind on lots of subjects. That is why I do not argue. I listen and learn.8)
in reply to: What ya got goin? #48823Thank you for the informative “goose” article.
I too am a part time resident of the lake Col Mike speaks of. Anf there is a ton of geese. Kind of noisey and annoying. But I ignor it, or maybe I just got used to living with them…honestly, the goose dont bother me at all. The only thing I can not get used to is the “poop”. It does get everywhere. If we can only teach them to use the restroom…:D
Everytme I read into contriversial enviromental topics like this one and fracking for example, I always find myself stuck in the middle. I always respect and understand both sides, but never find myself picking a side…what does that make me…??8)

Here is the link to Ken’s site.
He has a Trad bow store and is working on getting his web site store up and running with a shopping cart and the whole 9 yards. He is a great guy and is very handy with leather. He also makes arm guards, quivers, and tabs. My “satchel” was a prototype. I like it. He can custom make it any size and with pretty much any leather. Not to mention he buys/sells bows and anything trad archery related. He also makes a great string!
Ok, enough of my advertising.
Give him a call and tell him Wojo sent ya!8)
in reply to: Memorial Day reflections #38187Thanks to those who served and are serving.
I always respected my Pap for serving in the Navy during WWII.
Mike, thank you for putting me in your list of friends! Many more years to come!
Thanks again to all.
in reply to: Possibles bag #33927Mike,
I have a few possibles/haversacks I’ll bring down this weekend for you to see.8)
in reply to: Arrow Speed/Weight Set Up-Opinions #33912Mike, Cant wait!
We can do what ever!
I have some targets for your 3d range!
We can just hang, BS and shoot at your place!?
I have a new bow I just got this week. A local guy up here built it for me. I have been tuning arrows for it. I would like to put it through some paces!8)
in reply to: Arrow Speed/Weight Set Up-Opinions #33733As for the speed thing, I’m not arguing against a heavy arrow setup. I use the heaviest arrow I can too. I’m just suggesting that finding the sweet spot might be easier if we don’t focus on just arrow weight. For me anyway, that’s what I’ve found.
Well said! Plese dont take my comments as arguing! I am just trying to learn! Some people are obssesed with speed, others with weight and efoc. I am just trying to find a balance.
Nice bow!8)
in reply to: Arrow Speed/Weight Set Up-Opinions #33347thanks DW.
I agree with your comment.
I to would like to see bow and hear about it.8)
in reply to: Arrow Speed/Weight Set Up-Opinions #33188Thanks for your input Mike!
I totally agree with what you are saying. Sometimes I tend to over think things.:?
I have the same thoughts on this subject as most of you out there. Speed does not kill. Heavy arrows, quiet bows, good woodsman ship, and luck!
But I will say, if the arrow can get there a little faster, it would not hurt.
By the way, the difference between 150fps and 170 fps is VERY noticeable to the eye!8)
in reply to: ARROW SUGGESTIONS #32773I am a huge fan of the Easton Carbon/Aluminum arrows.
Particularly the ACC arrows
in reply to: Arrow Speed/Weight Set Up-Opinions #32756Steve,
You have a 48# longbow that shoots a 620g arrow 160 fps!?
I want one!
I have shot a ton of longbows in the 46-50# mark and I cant get over 150 with a 520g arrow!
Right now I am shooting a 46# longbow with a 550g arrow at 145fps. I can get 175 with a 350g arrow!:D
This chrono cant be reading right!
No one else want to put their 2 cents in?
I am just curious. I am a believer in as much foc you can get and the heaviest arrow you can shoot, but at that speed cost!
