      Welcome!

      Good advise here.

My biggest suggestion would be to read as much as possible, watch videos (u-tube) and shoot as much as possible.

Going to traditional 3d shoots is a great experience, way different then the compound guys. Everyone would be willing to help/mentor you. You will have a blast and make new friends.

I met 2 good friends from this site and we meet up all the time and stump, do 3d and even hunted this year together.

Enjoy! Traditional archery is a great lifestyle.8)

Only you can determine a “good” bow.

We can all give you our opinions.

If you plan to travel with it, then obviously a takedown is a must.

I have shot lots of the Samick models, and for the price, they are great shooters! My buddy sets up some real nice Samick bows for beginers and seasoned shooters alike. They come with custom strings, silencers, leather grips(if wanted). He sells a ton of them…

You could always search the classifieds and look for a good used bow.

        Just my advise…8)

different limb designs = different performance.

handshock…all in the limb design. riser materials can have some decision there.

I love the American Bison. I too thought about getting anything with buffalo.

I know Ron LaClair wears one. Go to the Leatherwall forum site and do a search or post there, I am sure old Ron will oblige.

                  FYI, they are very expensive!

I would a pair of fingerless buffalo wool gloves(blended with buffalo/merino). very nice.

                    The further away, the better!

I have tested arrows on hard surfaces in the past and sometimes the point will drive right into the shaft, which in this case will loose energy. I know moose have big bones….

I really dont want to foot, but I am wondering if I should…8)

I have no idea about decibel levels, But I will say, you can not beat wool for silencers.

I can send you some navajo wool for silencers. Works great!!

                      Let me know.8)

I too enjoy shooting aluminum. They are a bit different tho. Hitting a target weight is easy as aluminum shafts weight more in thr gpi dept. Efoc is a little different.

I found that aluminum arrows fly their best at 18-20%foc. Which IMO is just fine.

If you are shooting 45# at your draw recurve (which I am curently)

Try one of the following set ups.

                        2018 with 200 point

                        2114 with 200 point(my current set up)

                        2115 with 250 point

I play with arrows a lot. PM me if you have anymore ?’s8)

                          Yes John! Like a $1.36US/Canada.

Can you give a link to the clothes and fabric?

I always looking for new ideas.

I just layer up, wool mostly. Just got some Cammucks this year. Hopefully they work on my always cold feet!

And I too use the disposable hand warmers in my pockets, they work great!8)

Pennsylvania is the worst. Every farm has a shack at the edge of a field with a bunch of fat guys with 270’s or 300 Win Mags in it taking 300 yard shots. But the antler restrictions have improved the heard substantially in the past 5 years. But PA ends the archery season too soon, around the 15th of November. From November 15th to December 3rd or 4th you can’t hunt deer at all. It stinks if you hunt trad.

                            John

                            John,

Yes, it does suck! Plus PA allowed crossbows in archery….:x

Well, I got a doe, no buck in PA again this season!

Taking the recurve out for a walk and searching for a bunny or 2!8)

We should all take steps, even small ones, to pass on the trad life.
