When I was shooting lefty I was good out to 35/40 yards (on paper anyway).

Righty… about 15 yards. I’d like to say its because I’m left eye dominant, but thats just an excuse.

Either above or below, doesn’t really matter much. Both work and both are used, and if I am not mistaken Mr. Howard Hill nocked his arrow above the point.

The two reasons most people nock below the point is that…

        1) It was how they were taught.

        2) Placing the arrow underneath the point keeps the arrow level on the shelf. If your nock fits the sting rather loosely and you nock above the point, then the tip heavy arrow can/will cause the nock end to rise up and possibly come off the string (really loose string/nock fit).

What you say is true, and my wife and I tried it on our most recent Bear. Unfortunately while we left the hide “curing” in the solution, our nieghbors dog Muffin snuck in, knocked over the bin, and proceeded to turn my hide into a chew toy. So unfortunately we were unable to see if the process created a presentable product.

Gives me an excuse to shoot another Bear though…

I will second the Samick suggestion. Great starter bows, and price and selection are good.

Ain’t it supposed to be the other way around, shoot production, shoot custom, then build your own. Seems your progression is backwards 😉 .

All kidding aside, the only bow you mentioned that I have owned is the Montana, and as you said it is a good shooter and a good intro bow.

However if you did want to try a custom I would recommend the Bama bow line. Their designs are pretty much in line with your preferences, and their prices are quite reasonable.

Make sure to post a pic or two when you pick up your new stick.

Cool looking rig! I just wish I hunted area that would allow me to use one. Too damn thick, and too much deadfall.

Where does one go to get one of them ATVs anyway?

Good on yah Troy! Unfortunately I don’t know anyone of the proper dimensions for the bow, but I am sure it will go to good home.

Does this mean I get to keep my Woodchuck? 😉

Prowler – You got me man! Dewberry jam does top blueberry ketchup. But I’ll meet your jam and raise you a Woodchuck! 😯

                          Hullo Mr. Allen,

I ordered them from Hero Army Surplus in Oshawa Ontario. They say they ship world wide and last I heard they still had some woolies in stock.

                            Very cool idea Troy!

If the give away is allowed, how would one go about putting thier name in?

Also what poundage is she built too?

                              Dr. Thomas

Glad to hear the good words about the Swedish surplus pants, as they are what I ordered. But the pics on the website were not very distinct. Just wondering if you can give me an idea as to what pocket room they have?

                                Duncan,

It has been my experience that the smaller Chucks are like your smaller Racoons, almost no fat.

As far as a recipe goes, pretty much anything that works well with Rabbit goes well with Chuck. Anymore I just prefer to roast them whole in a crock pot with salt and pepper to taste.
