in reply to: Pulling Tusks? #56829
Well I figured I would slide them into the band of my Aussie hat, you know to add some good ju-ju. Would also like to do that with some Porkupine quills. Just have to find the Porkupine first.
in reply to: Is this safe? #56827Thanks folks.
in reply to: My best shot ever, first blood of the season!!! #43972Great job on the Squirrel, wish they were legal game up here. I also think longer range shots are acceptable on small, easier to kill targets. Sharptail Grouse are what come to mind for my area, as they rarely let you walk within 30 yards. As long as I am shooting a SHARP head I’ll fling arrows at em to 40 yards. Doubt I could hit em at 51 though!
in reply to: A Miss and A Test of Resolve #41840Know how you feel. Missed a what would have been my first archery Deer from a distance of eight FEET! Man did it hurt. Just forgot to pick a spot. But there will be other chances. Man the look on that Deer’s face when it realised what I was was pricless.
in reply to: Sharp out of the package… #37887Yup tis the same broadhead. Mine weigh 200 because I removed the bleeders. And as for the huge price difference, well we can chalk that up currency exchange, import costs, etc. Nuthin in Northern Alberta is cheap:(.
in reply to: Predators and A Hunter's Conscience #36665Until two years ago I used to shoot at every single canine predator (when legal). Put it down to my redneck upbringing where the only good predator, rodent, was a dead one. But since then I have picked up traditional archery and become exposed to the writings of its practitioners. While I don’t agree with everything I’ve read, these writings have led me to re-think many of my beliefs, and even helped me form a new set of ethics. I wouldn’t kill a canine predator now, unless in defense of myself or those I care about. And I no longer kill without the intent to consume. I am ashamed to think back on those creatures that I did kill for no other reason than that they were predators or considered unworthy.
in reply to: Sharp out of the package… #36627No worries, tis cool:).
in reply to: Sharp out of the package… #36622Afraid I don’t know how to post a link but the company of manufacture is Muzzy. They are 100% stainless steel, 4-blade, and vented, but I’m not sure at what Rockwell they are produced. Anyone here know?
in reply to: Sharp out of the package… #36012Lol too true! Mayhap there be a Whitetail as foolish as me?
in reply to: Share a Tip #31993My tip is this, learn to identify the Bunch Berry. I don’t know the extent of its distribution but it is a common mid-late Summer berry in Alberta. Unfortunately I don’t have a picture but a image search should bring up a suitable pic. I suggest this because as I found out it cures upset stomach and diarrhoea. While on hike this Summer I suffered a sudden severe case of thee above. I had read about the Bunch Berry and figuring I had nothing to lose I swallowed two hand fulls. They are of bland taste but the effect was that within twenty minutes I felt right as rain and was able to continue my hike without any more woodland potty breaks.
in reply to: Gotta get this "stuff" under control! #30307LOL man the problems we hunters have! Trick is to skip breakfast and morning liquids. No breakfast, no wooland potty breaks, for me anyhow.

in reply to: Need some help with arrows… #20576What you say is true.
By good to go I was refering to the fact that I won’t have to sit out the entire season due to improperly tuned arrows. A couple weeks of practice and I’m back hunting :P. -
