in reply to: Glue for Broadheads #36204I just use the same hot glue that is used for hot glue guns. Haven`t had it fail yet.
Heard good things about the Treeshark. As for finding a broadhead with the best killing ability possible, I would say that you should look into the Ashby studies. Pretty interesting stuff. I should also say that you would be hard pressed to find a two/three blade cut on contact broadhead that won’t fit your needs. As long as you can get it razor sharp and put it where it belongs, you should do well.
Yah I too felt pretty low at first. But then I realised that for every miss, I had managed to get within 20 yards of some of the spookiest critters on earth. In my first couple years as an archer I didn’t even accomplish that. So once I realised that I was becoming a better hunter, I didn’t feel so bad about being an iffy archer (on big game anyhow).
in reply to: most challenging animal to hunt? #27062Stalking Whitetails on the ground. Not ambush hunting, but actual spot and stalk. Damn near impossible but loads of fun.
The best scare I gave was an eight foot miss on a yearling Whitetail Doe. Forgot to pick a spot and sent the arrow just below her. Actually tickled her belly with the fletch! She made to most goofy grunt/squeel sound and I doubt she stopped running till she reached Saskatchewan. Best part of all was that the Woodsman broadhead I was shooting was shorter than the fletch so she didn’t even get nicked!
I like to brag that any archer can kill a Deer, it takes a true marksmen to tickle one :D.in reply to: Asbell Mackinaw Wool Pullovers #19365Yup they are one great garment. Warm, quiet, and underpriced to boot. Now if only she made pants…
Oh I didn’t make these. The fellow I mentioned in my first post did. I apologise to those who thought I made them, I didn’t mean to take credit for his work. I’ll be more careful how I word things from now on .
in reply to: Buttonhead #48358Great shot!
in reply to: Her first bow #48355Too cute. Outa make a great range buddy for sure.
in reply to: Nock left? #47909Thanks a bunch for the link. Read it through and fixed the problem lickety split. Now just have to find a Mule Deer for the final test.
Yup Fletcher you are one of the guilty ones. But don’t worry, I forgive you :D.
in reply to: Arts, crafts, and Beavers… #43211Yup I ate the heart and the hams. My Grandad gagged but it was one of the best wild meats I have eaten, much better than Rabbit or Woodchuck. I hope to put a few in the freezer next year, if my Wife allows it .
