      DUHHHHHHHH

Read Malcolm Gladwell, OUTLIERS, and some of his other work. Tells how we get good at something (like archery, and baseball), what happens when we choke up, and how the brain doe’s it.

For those that are metric challenged a “couple thousand clicks away” is along long ways.

      Edit:

      Grumpy,

      that is good reading.

There’s nothing wrong with Zen Hippies, but for most guys I’ve noticed that it is hard enough to start out in yoga with out have some one telling you to look inside yourself for inner piece while we twist you into a knot. 😯

That’s great SB, I haven’t been home to hunt since the season opened back at the end of Sept. So I’m having to live through the stories here.

Good luck on your next outing.

Wear the ones with the smaller frame. I shoot with glasses and with contacts, I make sure to practice with both. A smaller frame for me is just more comfortable all around.

Yoga works. The best thing to do is get video that shows every new stretch slowly.

Oh and mute the tv, most of the people doing the videos sound way to in tune with the hippy zenny stuff for most guys.

Do not under any circumstances push your stretch past the point of excessive discomfort or pain, meaning don’t force your body into a knot, just stretch the best you can.

Remember you are supposed to move ssslllooowwwlllyyy in yoga doing the stretches and going from one stretch to another.

              Good luck

Stubborn perseverance is the best quality to have while tracking/trailing wounded game. I’ve seen several so called “great hunters and trackers” that quit after an hour or two just because they were tired and began to think they didn’t have as good a hit as they thought, only to have some one else find their animal a day or two later on or in the next season within 50-200 feet of where they quit. We owe it to the animals we hunt to follow up our shots tell we know for sure that our hit was a non lethal hit, if your not sure, you damn well keep lookin!

Not finding a poorly hit animal would/has ruined an entire season for me. Takes along time to get over not finding an animal you shot/killed and are unable to honer properly by utilizing them completely.

Irritates the heck out of me!! 😡

Nice to see some one with the “Stubborn perseverance” that actually matters.:D

                Good job!

I don’t use an arm guard except when wearing my bulky hunting clothes.

Bare fingered? I will admit I’m not tough enough for more than a couple shots bare fingered, after that I need something to protect my sensitive digits. 🙂

Welcome Paul, unique senses of humor seem to be a common requisite for Trad Bowhunters, and they seem to run as wild as Web Mother will allow on this great site.:D

I agree, They both seem to have a way of expressing their feelings and thoughts, with words, that just catch you where it counts.

Although Palio may try to deny it, and Dave, well it is one of the reasons I read his books.

😆 skipping one into one of those tires would have been more expensive:shock: real hard to believe but tires are more expensive than windows in the RV world.

Stay close R2 and it looks like three under is working out good so far.:D

                          in reply to: MREs #29880

The first MRE’s I had tasted like card board some of the guys thought the were good, But they also liked broccoli and cauliflower. 5 years later prior to discharge I had the unfortunate necessity to try them one more time for a few days and those were much better than the first ones, those last ones tasted like an old #2 pencil I used to chew on when taking tests in school. If had a choice I’d pick the pencil over card board any day.

Some of the other vets that have just left the service say they have gotten much better and have acctual flavor.

I myself pay the little extra expense and get some of the mountain house meals, they have a very large selection of tasty meals, but there are a few that are plenty bland.

                          Good luck on your choice.

The problem is that copperhead skins are too thin to lay over black glass. They turned very grey and I also made some rookie errors on that first go round. After that, UPS smashed the thing to bits and broke one of the snake skins and it delaminated from the limb.

How would I go about removing the old skins and trying fresh. My buddy found a 62″ road killed canebreak the other day that should work perfect. I attached them with tightbond II and then sprayed several layers of urethane varnish on them. Please remember that I am not a skilled woodworker and will need everything explained in simple terms. Thanks so much! I’d really like to get this bow looking good again as it shoots very well, is very light, and I killed my first island deer with it.

First thing is it sand the urethane varnish off. Second thing is to use steam (I would use a large tea pot or percolator coffee pot for better control of where the steam is directed) to loosen your glue bond, peal the skin off. Next clean your bow limbs with a mineral spirits type cleaner, I have used rubbing alcohol, but you want to pay attention to the original finish on the sides and belly of the bow so you don’t “smoke up” the finish.

With the steam you want to take care not to steam to much in any particular area the really high heat can weaken the bond of the bow laminations if it gets to hot, it’s like leaving the bow in a car in July with the windows up, not quite that drastic but you get the idea.

Now that is what I would do, someone else may have a better solution.

Good luck and be sure to share pics of the finished skins.
