in reply to: New to Traditional Archery. #130899
Hi Clint,
Welcome to the site, and the wonderful world of traditional archery! It’s great to hear that your family enjoys it too. Be sure to look at the Compton Rendezvous in Berrien Springs this summer, as they have a great youth program. There are many great organizations in that part of the country that would welcome you and your family.
There is no right or wrong answer as to the bow you choose. If the Bear bows felt good to you, go with one of them. Did you shoot any other bows at the Expo that you liked? The best advice I can give you is don’t start out with a bow that is too heavy. Something in the 45-50 pound range will help you perfect your shooting form and build good habits. Plus, you can shoot a lot more arrows before you get tired!
Have fun!

in reply to: EFOC bareshaft flies nock low #130898Hello Michael,
Welcome to the site. Although we aren’t as big as the other forums on the Internet, this is a friendly and helpful group. I’m sure someone will come along soon with some suggestions.

in reply to: An (un) Settling Debate #130719I know that was not your intention. We really do enjoy your writing. Keep ’em coming.
in reply to: An (un) Settling Debate #130707Question for the group: Would you prefer to see bea’s story in full here in the forum, or are you okay with a link?
in reply to: relationship between TPI and FOC #130593I’m sure I’m not alone when I say how happy I am to see your post. Thanks for answering Josh’s question for all of us.
Best of luck with your treatments. No internet connection sounds kind of peaceful…
in reply to: relationship between TPI and FOC #130441Hi Josh, and welcome to the forums. The only “decorum” required here is mature and respectful conversations, even if you disagree with someone. This forum in particular is dedicated to those who want to discover more about Dr. Ashby’s theories or ask questions about certain related topics, as you have done (so you’re good!), but we ask folks who disagree with his findings or suggestions to visit the Campfire or Bows and Equipment forums, but to leave the folks here to discuss this topic peacefully.
I will message Ed Ashby and see if he can shed a little light on your question.

in reply to: Camp Pics Thread #130378T.J. took our daughter and son-in-law to elk camp in September and the kids and I couldn’t go. So we set up a tent and camped in my backyard for two nights. Here’s a picture of Teagan (3) and Tuffy the cat. Jameson was gathering our gear. It was a memorable weekend!

I’m not familiar with imgur but I’m sure it will work. When you are typing a post, look in the tools in the Visual tab and you’ll see a square with mountains and a sun. Then you can upload your image. If imgur uses a form of code, you would click the Text tab and paste it there. I hope that makes sense. Trial and error is the best way to see if something works. If you are sizing your images, 600px wide is good. Just let me know if you have any trouble. You can also email me directly at webmaster@tradbow.com. That’s easier for me than the forum messaging system.
I will continue to research this, but for now try putting a comma (no spaces) between two words and see what you get.
The forum search looks for “keywords” not phrases. By using a comma it will look for both words, but I’m not sure about the results you will get.
in reply to: Selfies, Selfbows, & Solo Hunts……. #130178Welcome Roger! Nice story.
I chalked it up to cabin fever. I’d be happy if the gun portion of this thread would end here. I really appreciate that you were able to disagree as gentlemen and state your points clearly.
Future comments on this thread should refer to the original topic.
Thanks, Mom
You’re welcome Jimmie! (in more ways than one) Welcome to the site and the forums. I will look at the issue with the search function and try to fix it. You are correct that running this site is a bit of work, and I do have some help now, but it’s a labor of love for all of us. Between the site and our print magazine, our mission is to bring information and entertainment to everyone who is interested in traditional bowhunting. Let me know if I can help you find anything.
